I recently stayed at the Mercure Hotel in Windhoek and had a less than satisfactory experience. I had booked a specific, more expensive room, but when I arrived, I was given a different room that didn’t match what I had paid for. When I discussed this with the receptionist, she informed me that they didn’t have the room I originally booked available and that since I had already checked in, an upgrade was impossible. This was quite disappointing, as I had chosen the hotel based on the amenities and features of the room I wanted. As someone who has traveled to many countries over the years and always stay with the hotels under Accor. I can say I've never experienced anything like this before. Eventually, I was able to upgrade at the Movenpick Hotel, which ultimately provided the experience I was looking for. While I appreciated the cleanliness of Mercure Hotel and the friendliness of the staff, the booking issue significantly impacted my stay. Overall, I would rate my experience a 6 out of 10 and recommend that future guests double-check their reservations ahead of time to avoid similar frustrations.
