Cheap but not cheerful

The location isn't bad. Next to the river and the ancient culture street area, but be prepared to do a lot of walking as not particularly close to subway or bus. Experience was very average. Staff looked dead on their feet. Check-in experience ridiculously complex and somehow ended up with an interior room with no window (maybe this was my fault but would not have been something I would have chosen if obvious). Room absolutely reeked of cigarettes, the TV didnt work and there was a very suspicuous stain on a mirror, but otherwise was relatively clean and comfortable. It was lucky I was tired and had earphones as it was very noisy with people shouting until late and starting early in the morning. Breakfast is very basic Chineae style. This is fine by me but you have to get uo early to get a seat and staff think it is perfectly acceptable ro talk about guests on Chinese while they are eating, which is not. All in all, the budget experience in China can be charming and cheap and cheerful. This was certainly cheap.
