Disappointing experience What once was a grand, luxurious piece of history is now tired and run down and in desperate need of maintenance. Be careful of your car on the way in. The potholes are horrific and almost unavoidable at the entrance. No excuse for these not being temporarily fixed after a break in the wet weather. I love staying in old, historic places and part of the fun is the quirky character. Not here. We paid for the top room. What we were met with was a run down room that had seen better days. The shared balcony directly outside our window was being used by fellow guests to drink and chat (as they are entitled to), but it left us in total darkness as to have any privacy we had to have the blinds shut! Secondly our bathroom had seen better days. It was tired and dirty and the bathroom door didn’t even shut cleanly, leaving a gaping hole to the bedroom. The rooms are not sound proof so you can hear absolutely every sound in neighbouring rooms and in the corridor. Lying in bed, I wondered what it was on the wall, our blind valance was leveled with an instant coffee sachet?!?! Seriously ?!?! In a hotel of this standard?! Walking down the corridors you could see gaping holes into the hotel rooms through the crooked doors. Whilst I know some of this is part of the charm surely this isn’t fire compliant. The fireplaces are a nice feature to sit by and relax & read. Although take your own books & don’t be fooled by their advertised ‘library’. The books are non existent, unless you want to read an encyclopaedia. Don’t bother dining at the restaurant. I paid $52 for a steak which was chewy and disgusting & better suited to a pub meal, along with an off glass of sav Blanc which tasted like it came from a cask. The coffee was also absolutely appalling and undrinkable. We attempted on 2 seperate occasions and both were equally bad. Do yourself a favour and go into town to eat/drink. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel until it has seen some serious upgrades. I’m sure there is plenty of other places who do a far better job. Don’t be fooled by the label of Peppers.

the common areas are great, inviting and good for small groups to share space. but the rooms are cold food and drinks are good, not bad, no fantastic, but the bar is well stocked and the food caters for all

One really great weekend, Nice rooms and amazing chimneys at the reception. Amazing views of Frosty sunrise from our room. Great place to stay Close to all Amenities. Highly recommend this hotel. child friendly.

Mmm Peppers Craigeburn very disappointed ($400 per night room) . From the ungracious & officious receptionist onwards I knew I had made a mistake . I wonder who interviews these people? I was made to feel like I was intruding (no welcome etc) I was travelling with my elderly mother and the room reserved required us walking the entire length of the complex then filing past the restaurant, very small and poky to boot. Sorry that’s all we have was the answer (I made it clear my requirements at time of booking) Trading on its name and past reputation be very specific when booking is my tip.

lovely old building , great food and wine . need to sign post reception from car park better the diming experience both breakfast and dinner were excellent room had good outlook over golf course but was to warm
