Relaxing stay! Lovely hotel and brilliant facilities. We loved the stay and staff were really friendly. Excellent breakfast everyday and lots of room NY the pool. Location was ideal for short 15min walk into main town. Would thoroughly recommend the hotel and staff.

Run down poorly maintained.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at Mantra Portsea. Upon arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful. However that’s about where the positives ended for this accommodation. Going into our room it absolutely stank like mouldy washing and it was not clean at all, dead bugs squashed into walls and blinds, mould in the bathroom and dirty windowsills and floors. The furniture was dirty and stained. Our king bed was 2 single beds pushed together and all in all it was disappointing, with terrible bedding. We sucked it up and headed to the pool for a few cocktails, only to find that as soon as 5pm rolls around, no matter how many people are in the pool/at the bar it closes. We then had 2 days in a row of the fire alarm go off at ungodly hours of the morning jolting us awake, then not even an explanation or apology until we brought it up. All in all our holiday to Port Douglas was fantastic however the down side was this accommodation we won’t be staying here again and suggest others look elsewhere. I have now read some recent reviews and it seems quite a common complaint, and the hotel responds to each one with a copy paste reply which is also disappointing to see. For what we paid for our accommodation it was extremely disappointing.

Rest assured that review responses are not just copy and paste as you suggest. We take the time to read and review your feedback. We acknowledge that we could have done better. We could have either provided additional cleaning to your room or moved you to another room that was more suitable as we want our guests to be comfortable during their stay with us however if our team are not made aware of any issues with a stay then it is so difficult for us to make things right. I have no doubt that if we were able to have moved you to a different room, then your experience may have been different outcome. I have also passed on your comments to our Housekeeping Manager for further review and explanation. Regarding the fire alarm activation on the early morning of the 6th, this was unfortunately a false alarm. While we cannot control when our fire equipment may activate, we understand that being woken up can be inconvenient. However, these systems are in place to protect our guests and staff in the event of a real emergency. With regards to our Lagoon Pool Bar, as we are now in the Wet Season, the Pool Bar operates on Seasonal Hours from 12pm till 5pm and closed on Sunday and Monday. We are open and transparent regarding this and is displayed on our websites. Unfortunately, due to the low occupancy sustained in November and December, it is not financially viable to maintain longer opening hours. That said, at Reception we also have a fully stocked Lobby Shop fridge available for guests to purchase any beverages, as an alternative. We are again sincerely sorry that your stay with us was not as it should have been. Should you decide to return and allow us an opportunity to make amends one day in the future rest assured we will do all we can to try and restore your faith in us. My 6 days stay at Mantra PortSea was wonderful. I was initially not happy with my single room, the front desk staff helped immediately and shifted me to a 1 bedroom apartment which was quite spacious with the pool view and a balcony. I reached there earlier than the check in time , they let me use their facilities and also made my room available 3 hrs before the check-in time. During the whole stay she helped with my tour arrangements and other queries. The staff members of the pool bar were very friendly too. I recommend this accommodation to everyone.

Mantra PortSea was a letdown

We checked into our room for a birthday weekend and it was a severe letdown. The room hadn’t been maintained well, stains on couch and bed and damage to the walls, doors and bed frame. Room hadn’t even been cleaned properly, there a pad wrapper from the person before us. Food crumbs and sand on the couch when we arrived. Clothes horse was rusty. We requested a room change and that came at an extra cost. The bar fridge was filled with ice and leaking out onto the tiles. Room claimed kitchenette but there wasn’t even any cutlery or crockery for us to have breakfast. Bar closed on Sundays. We had a free breakfast voucher sent from All Accor to use at any of their locations. Staff said we could use the voucher but we were charged for breakfast upon checkout. Staff said they couldn’t deduct the voucher off our bill. Extremely disappointing considering the price we paid. No point being an All Accor member if one “free” nights accomodation in a rundown hotel is all you get. Won’t be going back

Clearly, we have fallen short to meet your stay experience and certainly is not our usual high standard we aim to deliver to our valued guests in particularly our loyalty members. I have also shared your comments with our Housekeeping Manager to further understand where the lapses occurred that you mentioned. Rest assured this is not the norm. With the Lagoon Pool Bar, as we have now entered the Low Season in Port Douglas we are operating on reduced times, and this information is displayed on our website. Unfortunately, it is not financially viable for us to operate normally during the Low Season when the property is tracking at such low occupancy. As an alternative though, guests have access to beverages through the Reception Lobby Shop so our valued guests can still enjoy a cold beverage when relaxing at the pool. Guests that wish to redeem their welcome drink can do so through Reception directly. Laura, your feedback is greatly appreciated as it is only through such feedback that we can address any concerns or feedback that may have otherwise been overlooked. Should you allow us an opportunity to make amends in the future, rest assured we will do all we can to look after you and restore your faith in us. We had an amazing family holiday staying at Mantra Portsea with our teenage / adult children. The pools were amazing with some being refreshingly cool while others were warm which was perfect at night. The swim up bar was a hit. The Continental breakfast had loads of variety with the pancake maker being a favourite. We loved our dual access apartment with its pool access from our private patio. The pools, buildings and surrounds were always spotless and the resort has a private track at the back leading straight to the beach. The staff were always friendly and eager to please and we certainly had no issues with the Wifi. I highly recommend Mantra Portsea Port Douglas.
