A great property but let down by F&B service.

A nice property with a nice outlook. The rooms a good and has various options available. The mini village in between there and Peppers offers variety with a pub/meals, bottle shop, convenience store and many places to eat. The stay was let down by the pool bar being closed despite the sign on the bar and the room documents. Breakfast is at Peppers Season restaurant and this was a disappointment. whilst the buffet selection is good often they were empty and you either went without that choice or waited. Ended up leaving without coffee as this was slow and had finished breakfast before it arrived. This is the same as a previous stay about 18months before so they don't seem to have improved.

Nice spot and comfortable stay

We were upgraded to a pool view apartment and what a nice view. We were very comfortable in the spacious apartment and big balcony. Pity that the weather was really cold so didn’t get to use the pool. Prior to the booking and on checking the website, confirmed that food was available. So very surprised on arrival that we had to go next door for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Exceptional staff & calming stay

We love the Mantra on Salt and visit from Yamba at least 3 times each year. This April we had medical appointments at John Flynn and booked in three nights at the Mantra. Long story short - my husband was admitted into the hospital and I ended up extending my stay into an eight day visit. The front desk staff were exceptional helping me with extensions and securing the same room as well. I was a bit stressed however they were so accomodating and professional - I could not have asked for more. Call outs include: Fellipe (a superstar manager), Brooke, Issac, and Lauren. I am sure I have missed someone - please extend my thanks. It made a challenging visit so much better. I appreciate all of the help I received and look forward to a more relaxing visit in the future with my husband. Thank you again. Mary Crockett and David Aston

Disheartening and disappointing stay

Staying Mantra on Salt Beach felt like hard work for our family: My husband and I had to separate and make king bed into singles for our children; Shower screen damaged and wouldn't close; Leaking fridge, which flooded the kitchen; only three dining chairs and three lounge chairs for four guests; only one towel provided for each guest for a six day stay and woken by two false fire alarms in the middle of the night. The pool was also cold...but this may have been my fault that I assumed it would be heated. Customer service and communication was the most disappointing part of our stay. I felt like an annoying guest, having to ask and follow up on requests for them to be actioned: for the shower screen and fridge to be looked at so to avoid slipping hazards; I requested an extra towel per guest on Day 4...we never received these requested towels. Body balm was provided in the shower instead of body wash so that we could wash ourselves- this was never replaced despite the request. We received no communication about the hotel services when we checked in (e.g. where do we put our rubbish?).We only discovered by chance that there were kids' club activities when walking past a screen. Despite the pool being out of action on Day 1, I was suprised that we had to pay to use the tennis court. Every time we asked to use the table tennis equipment, we were told that there weren't any (perhaps they had been taken by another guest) with no effort to recover or replace the equipment. It didn't feel like resort holidaying. What really upset me the most was the response we got from one particular concierge regarding each of my requests, all along the lines as 'you've booked Mantra and not Peppers and the service you are getting is why we keep the prices down at Mantra compared to Peppers'. The concierge used Pepper as a comparison even though I had never mentioned it, or even thought about booking it. It certainly made us feel sub-standard when we were trying to create a special holiday for my daughter who suffered a traumatic accident during the summer. Eventually a new concierge was rostered for the end of our stay, and was suprised by the experiences we had, and provided us with $100 to spend at the Surge Bar. For this we were grateful...but it still didn't end up being the holiday we planned. It left a sour taste in our mouths, and we would have had a better holdiay if we'd catered for ourselves in an Air BnB or retro motel.

Noisy guests!

I love all of this area and would live here if I could! We have family here but over the last few years have stayed across the road and thought we would try Mantra this time. Everything was perfect until dark! Unfortunately for us and I will assume many other guests there was a junior football team staying and as soon as darkness fell they were allowed to run a muck in the pool area. The adults who appeared to be with them were sadly not supervising at all as the young boys were very loud (we could still hear there shouting through our closed doors and shutters), even though the main pool is right outside reception the noise still continued throughout the evening. Sadly it appeared that hotel staff were not able to request they lower the noise . I have had hotels warn when making bookings that there are renovations that may be noisy happening, maybe in future they could warn us that we have a large group of people staying and we are unable to manage the noise from them! I also encountered them in other areas of the hotel and can imagine we will read about these footballers into the future as they have been allowed to display this behaviour with no intervention from the adults with them or hotel staff. A very disappointing stay for us.

Dear Elle2511, Many thanks for your comments and feedback. Apologies about the disruption by the sporting group thi should not have happened. Hope to see you again in the future Regards Neil
