Good chain hotel

We booked somewhat late after managing to get tickets for the opera and this was not our first choice of hotel, but overall our stay here was reasonably good. They have a car park adjacent (not free) and the reception was friendly, letting us check in early as they had a room free. The room was fairly compact but adequate for a couple of nights. The town centre is about 10-15 minutes walk in one direction and the festspielhaus about the same in the other direction, with the railway station almost next door, so the position is good. Despite being between the rail tracks and a fairly main road, we didn't get excessive noise. Breakfast was buffet style and a bit limited but adequate.

Conveniently located next to the central station and a short walk to the Bayreuth Festspielhaus. As others have said this is an Ibis Styles and Ibis Budget in the same building - essentially the same hotel with shared reception, breakfast area etc. We stayed in the Styles which was dramatically overpriced for what it was - no doubt because we stayed during the festival. No point to pay for the Styles if the Budget is cheaper. Our room was not cleaned at all during our stay. When we told reception they said that housekeeping reported that we had the do not disturb sign on our door, which was untrue. As we were at reception another couple came with the same complaint. Reception staff said they couldn’t do anything. Not at all what is expected of this hotel chain.

Smart, slick hotel with good parking well located for the Festspeil House and centre

Planning to visit the Bayreuth Festival for the first time, I found it slightly tacky to find somewhere nice stay. Most options in Bayreuth seem at the budget end of the scale. This hotel is a good choice. It is very easy to find and there is plenty of parking available. The property is situated between the Festspiel House (which is a short, pretty walk) and the various interesting sites in the centre. The rooms were pristine with good air conditioning. Breakfast was simple but of good quality. The staff are very friendly and professional. It was fun having drinks at the hotels bar after returning from the opera.

A ripoff hotel

If you understand the meaning of “ripoff” then you have the perfect picture of the IBIS style hotel in Bayreuth. For more than 240€ per night we were given rwo rooms (422and 420), rooms overlooking a train junction. The cost is incredibly higher (250 € per night) for no reason than any equivalent hotel The room had NO PHONE, the bathroom had no bidet, no frills whatsoever were available in the bathroom (no shampoo, no shaving foam, no nothing!). The hotel has no private garage so a customer must use a parking place (cost not included in the room cost). The room was very small, with no diary indicating the hotel options. We asked for two second pillows and we got only one. The breakfast was almost ridiculous: not enough tables so we had to use another room far away from the breakfast trays. When we came back in the afternoon we discovered that the room had not been made (excuse: for saving energy…..)! Never in my life I felt so cheated and my suggestion is to avoid at any rate a so unacceptable makeshift hotel. I am a very seasoned traveller and obviously I have experienced very good and less good hotels but never, I repeat never, anything similar happened to me. Shame on the hotel organization and shame on “booking.com” for advertising this horrible place.

ibis budgetブランドとしては驚くべき高額だったのは、festspiel期間中なのでやむを得ない、という点を差し引けば、ibis budgetとしては申し分ないレベルでした。室内の冷房は適度に効いて期待した通り快適に過ごせました。午後から夜にかけてはロビーで飲料水の提供があって助かったのと、festspielの公演終了後、22時すぎでもbarで軽食(ピザ)が摂れたのはとても助かりました。
