My reservation at Mama shelter was from June 1 through June 8. I received an email from them on May 20, less than 2 weeks before my trip, cancelling my prepaid reservation, citing "IT system error". I called them shortly after receiving the email, to discuss the issue, incurring international long distance charges and no one could help me. I was told to respond the email I received. I did that and received an email that said "Unfortunately, we are not here right now. If you have any urgent enquiries please contact the front desk at reception.eastlondon@mamashelter.com". It was 5pm London time. The email does say they will refund me, but they completely destroyed my vacation and have not tried to help out in any way. If you want to feel secure with trip plans, do not book rooms at this hotel.

Super cool hotel! Rooms are small but perfectly formed, with all the added extras you need. The decor is a curated mix of fabulousness littered with Mama’s positive affirmations! Reception service was friendly and welcoming! Shout out to Tasmia! Highly recommended - will definitely be back!

Best Spot in the Trendy Neighborhood All the staff at Mama Shelter were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself is stylish and located in a trendy neighborhood, with supermarkets, restaurants, and other conveniences just a short walk away. A special thanks to Marco at the reception desk—he was exceptionally helpful. Without me even having to ask, he provided all the key information I needed, always with a warm smile. The breakfast buffet is excellent, with a great variety of options—definitely worth booking your stay with breakfast included. Highly recommended!

Mama shelter has its name everywhere in the hotel, from corridors, lifts and in the room. And indeed, Mama is literally taking care of you - by their friendly staff of course. Everyone is chill and vibrant. In particular, and Ismail especially impressed us with our laundry works!

Most filling, delicious, homey breakfast. Very decent rooms, great vibe to the whole place, and super attentive staff. For dinner I had the Chicken Katsu Burger, and the Fish and Chips, both were fairly sized and super tasty too. Came for work, but wouldn’t mind coming back for personal traveling.
