This was our second visit to Belgrade but our first time in this hotel and it was an excellent choice. Not just the location but atmosphere and service. Because we landed late and were off very early we used the airport pick up service which the hotel kindly arranged and we felt it was worth it and a lot less stressful than trying to arrange a cab at 3.30 am. The general service was excellent and staff really were first rate. Serbia is a very warm and welcoming place but even so we were really made to feel at home here and loved our stay just a week before Christmas [western calendar]. Excellent breakfast and we adored the Ivo Andric theme making the hotel more boutique than chain. This will be our go to place when are next back in Belgrade.

Charming and Convenient Stay

The Mercure Belgrade Excelsior is a great choice for exploring Belgrade, The friendly and helpful staff made our stay even better, providing us with a map and detailed recommendations for what to see and do in the city. The area felt safe and pleasant, making it an ideal base. The hotel itself has a charming historic vibe, with features like the old lifts adding character. However, the rooms felt a little dated, and the bathroom was quite small. While modernising might take away some of the charm, the current setup may not appeal to those looking for luxury. That said, it’s functional, and offers value for money. We didn’t use the hotel bar or restaurant, as Belgrade offers plenty of dining options nearby. The transport links were also excellent, making it easy to get around. Overall, it’s a solid choice if you value location, hospitality, and a touch of character. While it’s not a modern luxury hotel, it’s a reliable and safe option, and I’d happily return for another stay.
