The location of the hotel is great, if you want a quiet night in central Hamburg (actually, it was a little too quiet to my taste). The area was very safe and modern and it was easy to travel between the central station and hotel both via public transportation and walking. I did not quite like the design of the room. It was very dark, which made it difficult to see if it was clean or not. The pillows (the actual pillows, not the linen) were definetely not clean and could do with a renewal. The room size was however very big and the bathroom was huge - bigger than some hotel rooms, I have stayed in elsewhere. The breakfast buffet had many different choices.

I really wanted to like this hotel, but they are making it hard to. I first visited the place during the late pandemic-back then hot water and heating stopped working in the middle of the night. The bike for rent did not have air in its tires and a receptionist unwilling to help with that. Not a great start. But as the place as such is cool, the location was convenient (even though the HafenCity still feels like a huge tourist trap and less like real Hamburg), I tried my luck again in 2025. The hotel has things going for it: a cool vibe, a messenger bag you can take out for your sightseeing, quality bikes you can rent for free, a free mini bar. However my main 2 issues were: the beds are really bad! Although booked as a queen, the bed has two separate single mattresses which make you roll into the crack in between. The pillows and linen have a distinctive cheap IKEA feel and are not great for anyone who needs some head rest support. The bathrooms remind me of the hospital ward in Bioshock and some of the furniture was broken. My biggest complaint however was that one night I came „home“ at around 2.30 am and wanted to clarify my departure time the next day. No receptionist or any staff could be found. I thought ok whatever and went to bed. Only to wake up an hour later as somebody had put on music with a bass and a beat in the receptionist area. It was not super loud but as my room was directly above the reception the bass was pulsing through the walls. Again I went down to the reception to talk to someone, no one was there. No sign, no bell. For a hotel that charges 200 quid and up this is not acceptable. I told the nice receptionist next morning, but after over a week there has been no follow up. For this kind of money one can do better even in Hamburg. My advice: bring earplugs! if the prices are like 100-150 Euros it’s ok anything more expensive is not in line with the quality they offer.

WARNING! Unfortunately we had a terrible experience at 25hours Hamburg Altes Hafenamt. Funky boutique hotel that should be a great hotel however with no systems in place and poor customer service I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone. Problems: Air-conditioning not working at all making the room so hot you couldn’t sleep without opening every window above the hotel bar and incredibly noisy. Reported fault to hotel staff who claimed to fix it but wasn’t then told by technician a like that it was working who then disconnected it completely and over the weekend the hotel doesn’t have access to the technician??? This issue went back and forth each time with different staff members who had no idea as nothing is recorded. No rooms available apparently to be moved to until final night which was basically a dungeon next to the laundry (no thanks). Hotel restaurant closed for private function on the Thursday night when we arrived not informed at check in and then Friday night hotel bar also closed for private function so do not plan to use hotel facilities as a guest! Dark, dark rooms and difficult to see anything and yes I am in my forties but seriously put some lighting in. Staff are as mentioned in other reviews very nice but have no idea about service and dealing with issues. Also not enough staff as you are constantly waiting and the cleaning of the rooms (only happens every second day) is basic at best not even changing the mini bar or glasses etc just make the bed! Positives: Beautiful building and funky hotel vibe but honestly that is it. We were offered free parking and a free breakfast for our truly unbearable stay and for the price I would definitely stay elsewhere when I return to Hamburg.

We stayed for 2 nights and had a wonderful stay! The staff was incredibly helpful, friendly and welcoming, and the hotel itself is wonderful. Had a lovely room and the entire give in the building feels very warm and welcoming.

What a find. Great staff. The room was so comfortable. Loved that we could sleep with the window open. The maritime theme of the whole hotel was great and the attached restaurant was delicious.
