I've booked the lake view and paid extra for my sister's honeymoon but the room was totally different to the photos online and the view we just building, houses and trees. Their communication was so poor and never came to be after I enquired about the room. The room shouldn't be a lake view and I've shown the photos to quite a few of my friends and they all agreed with me.

We spent 2 days here. We had a room with 2 queen beds. The room had an odd layout although the size of the room was fine. The bathroom was also different with the shower having smoky colored glass around it. The toilet was separate & surrounded with the same smoky glass. There was a breakfast buffet with a lot of good choices. The hotel is close to many restaurants. We tried one that was only 1-2 blocks away called Poco - it was good. Also walked to the Wai Ariki Spa & Hot Springs.

Upscale hotel, stinky (sulphur) location

A decent upscale hotel. I think the only upscale hotel in the area. Location: Well situated for exploring Rotorua, and you can walk to many restaurants and a fantastic park right from the hotel. Room: We got one of their largest rooms on an upper floor. It fit a family of three well, with a beautiful view over the lake and stylish furniture. Unfortunately there is little storage in the room (no drawers or bureau), and the toilet opens into the room with only a partial glass divider. Smell: Rotorua has a strong sulphur smell in certain areas, including where the hotel is. The HVAC does its best to remove it, but on one or two days it was pretty strong in the rooms. I'd wake up at night from the smell. In fact as I write this is smells terrible in the room. View: A+ if you have an upper floor on the lake side Tip: they offer small beds in the large king rooms for a child to sleep on. Americans, be aware that this is called a BED, not a cot; a "cot" in New Zealand means a crib. I miscommunicated on the phone and showed up to a tiny crib for an 8yo instead of a bed. They fixed it but save yourself a hassle and say "we'd like an extra BED for a child" to be clear.

It was a very strange room layout. Did not find the "glass box" toilet and shower facilities a good idea and did not provide very good privacy
