The Norfolk is an oasis of calm in central Nairobi and staff welcoming and helpful which sets the standard. The hotel is an icon and well deserved, the gardens are beautifully maintained, the rooms comfortable and the bar and restaurants with fun ambiance. Definitely a great base for business but also as a stop for tourists pre / post safari. Great charm and history. Highly recommended

I’ve stayed here a few times now, and it is a very nice hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean. They (sometimes) give you a rhino on your pillow at night. The breakfast has improved a lot since I was last here; lots of choice and really delicious. Pool is nice. Restaurant has good food, but a little samey after 10 days (I guess people don’t make a habit of staying here for business for that long). Most of the staff are really helpful and friendly. Annoyingly though, 4 days into our stay, my colleague was forced to move rooms because they wanted to paint the one he was in, which I found bizzare. We were very busy, had 3 large cases of equipment in the room and didn’t really have the time to pack up and move at 8 in the morning, but they insisted. The manager was less than helpful about it too. Couldn’t really give much of an explanation and tried to tell us it was an “upgrade”. It certainly was not. The literal exact same room on the floor below which was worse if anything (far darker than the original room on the first floor). Overall we had a decent stay here though.

A really lovely friendly and welcoming hotel. My travel plans changed owing to illness so I was solo. The Norfolk is an oasis of calm, comfort and kindness with excellent service. I thoroughly recommend it! And great good. The team throughout were accommodating and helpful with a can- do attitude and nothing was too much trouble.

Our 7-night unexpected extended stay at the Norfolk Fairmont Hotel turned out to be a truly memorable experiences, thanks to the incredible team who made it feel like a home away from home. From the moment we arrived, we were met with warmth and generosity, but it was the exceptional staff who truly elevated our stay. Joy, Joseph, and Tevan in Tatu Restaurant went above and beyond to take care of us each day, ensuring that every meal was an experience in itself. The food was simply outstanding, and they made our Valentine’s Day dinner the most special we have ever had—an evening that surpassed anything we’ve experienced elsewhere. Their attention to detail, thoughtfulness, and genuine kindness made every meal something to look forward to. A very special thank you to Gloria, whose help with our research was invaluable. Her deep knowledge of the coffee industry and her willingness to assist us went far beyond what we could have expected. She was not only an incredible resource but also a true pleasure to get to know. The team here is extraordinary—Sandra, Gede, Daniel, Isaac, and the wonderful spa team made every day brighter. And Pitaline took great care of our room every day. Whether it was through their thoughtful service, warm greetings, or small gestures that made us feel cared for, their kindness left a lasting impression. Excellent stay, staff lovely, room clean and comfortable. Afternoon tea, worth a try. Food good especially the cocktail bar! Good stopping off point before going on safari. Would recommend pollmans for transport and the African collection as agents.
