We booked this hotel on the premise of a family friendly hotel. This turned out not to be the case. The hotel is aimed towards weddings and functions. While we stayed there, there were several times when the music kept our 7 year old boy awake until 2 or 3 in the early morning. Complaining to the management proved useless and they were dismissive to the point of lying when these functions were finishing or for them being able to do anything about the volume of the music. We were in the very ends of the hotel wings,away from the main function room, we can only imagine how the many other families at this hotel coped! On the plus side, the front line staff were great. The waiters/waitresses were very attentive and couldn’t do enough for us, and the food was good. Rooms are clean, but we had to change rooms because of bad smelling air conditioning and the other rooms seem to have several maintenance issues that have been left unresolved. The hotel also advertises as been approx 30minutes away from the centre of Dubai. We travel several times to and from Dubai Mall and each time was well over an hour. An hour and 30 minutes is realistic during the day. The hotel is not well located for Dubai at all. Entertainment is nonexistent. After dinner, there is nothing to do at night, and this is another major downside. There seems to be nothing local to the hotel for entertainment and with Dubai centre being so far away, not a chance to make up for that, by going there at night. Overall, it’s a nice hotel, but not for families. I imagine if you have a function there it would be great. Not 5 star! 4 star at best!

Service - I asked for an early check in months before our stay and followed this up before we arrived which sadly wasn’t adhered to because the hotel was “busy”. First time ever being an Accor member that there was a challenge with this. Ordinarily, I am used to requests being made as early as ours was to be met, and met very well and a majority of the time Accor go above and beyond with our request leaving arrival to check in to getting settled in seamless and incredibly quick. It was not the case here. Management was very considerate and understanding but I felt my issue was not resolved because the hotel was “busy” and although our luggage was kept safely and we were given pool access, it’s the last thing you want with 3 kids, one of which was 3 years old after a long flight from the UK. The manager did offer some spa vouchers to apologise. Although a kind gesture, I just feel for the price we paid this shouldn’t have happened irrespective of whether it was busy/not. Planning and preparation is key to hospitality esp when the hotel is of this size and scale. That aside, the hotel has the most wonderful concierge team. Always there, presentable and smiling and happy to help. Gufran was incredibly welcoming and definitely made us feel welcome and happy irrespective of the time. He was always at our service. Food - we were there for a week and after a couple of days, it did get a bit “samey”, given the cost of the package I didn’t feel the need to complain because the quality of the food was exceptional it was just served over and over. The bar is extremely chaotic. It wasn’t easy to get a drink. It was hit and miss depending on the server you got and sadly, we got unlucky a majority of the nights. Having to chase missing drinks and sometimes not even get a drink at all until we were done. This wasn’t a concern for breakfast but was definitely the case for dinner. Dinner entertainment - I am used to a relaxed ambience. The hotel had singers every night which we found very loud and unnecessary at a Fairmont. But strangely the clientele here expected this and enjoyed it, so I guess this is just a preference. I paid a premium for a relaxing holiday, if I knew this was the case I’d book last minute to a resort in Turkey. Although we paid for All inclusive we ended up spending more and choosing the a la carte restaurants which were good. There wasn’t sadly much we could try however we definitely found it more palatable than the buffet restaurant. Quiet. Great ambience and more in line with the service and atmosphere we are used to in 5 star hotels. And we got our drinks on time. Amenities - I am an absolute sucker for a good spa. Particular and specific their spa was incredibly clean, the menu was extensive and services were exceptional good - great informative service and after care was beyond belief. The reception in the spa was great for me - very attentive and responsive accommodating my needs. Location - close by to other major hotels and local amenities I enjoyed the stroll through the area - it is busy so be careful however plenty other food places, services and mosques, weather permitting. Hotel room - cleanliness was good for standard for my husband and I. Whereas my parents and kids got a great team for their side of the hotel lead by Mehrab. He was phenomenal. Polite, professional, respectable and their rooms looked amazingly clean every day. Even after requesting months before our stay, we weren’t given rooms close by. In comparison to my other Accor/Fairmont experience the decor was dated and tired but clean. Rooms were spacious and the balcony is spacious and has a mesmerising view. Ensure building a relationship with your service team to ensure if there are any gaps in cleaning that they are addressed. We requested for a cot which we finally got but it took some time. Couple of nights we were woken up very abruptly by scream and shouts from other guests. I rang up to call and report the incident and it took around 20 minutes for the really loud screaming to stop. We had the youngest in our room so this wasn’t what we needed. It’s my husband’s birthday when we go for our holidays and I requested a cake. It was left very late. And at this point I gathered that it isn’t that the hotel don’t care. They do want to provide an exceptional service they are just under resourced. We didn’t end up eating it because it was late, which was sad to be abroad on such a special occasion and yet not have created beautiful memories or not being able to mark the occasion the “Fairmont” way. Pool - my family was spread across both pools. This hotel was very busy when we went. The hotel has a very high Russian clientele base as well as locals. You must be early to get a sunbed if you prefer a bit of privacy as by the pool it was too loud for me and my family. Upon checking out the manager apologised for the difficulty at checking in. I explained that it’s fine but I just don’t expect that level of complication at a Fairmont. You make it happen… customer comes first. I guess I’d stayed at far too many to recognise exceptional service and although the service was good here it was by no means that of which you associate to a 5 star I’m used to by Accor.

I’ve stayed here 3 times and note a downward spiral. The decor is now dated although rooms are clean and off good size. Restaurant and bar staff are pleasant but background functions such as laundry and air-con repair need 2-3 requests to get things sorted. Noise was a major problem on this occasion. There was a wedding for 2 nights - held on the mezzanine level directly below my room. The hotel permitted loud music to be played until 06.00, despite complaining to reception. Staff were not bothered I plan to use a nearby hotel on my next trip - Fairmont doesn’t value business travellers

Lost my Samsung tablet. Ali from security was amazing. Most helpful and very efficient. Found it for me and returned it to me safely. This was my first stay at Fairmont Ajman. I will definitely visit again. The staff are friendly and very helpful. Shaheda

The hotel ambiance, location, and some amenities are excellent. We got a room upgrade; the rooms are clean, bigger, and comfy. It was great to see the natural and clear blue waters of the shore and feel the calm and serenity of nature along with this luxurious hotel in Ajman. It was nice that the hotel manager was able to reach out directly to its customers; however, we drove long hours from the busy streets of Dubai to Ajman, and it was a big disappointment that during my years of luxurious staycations with different hotels along the UAE, there were very few and unexpectedly very late check-ins I had (9:11pm), and I requested at least 1 hour late check-out prior to our request, and we were told to request it in the morning of the next day. Unfortunately, it went wrong due to the wedding occasion that we have never been part of or have nothing to do with the stay request, as if some guests would vacate our room or as if the hotel had been exclusively closed for a royal family wedding or whatever, but it was a big NO NO for us, especially for me. The service was just okay, nothing special. Hotel and room amenities: 8/10 Location: 9/10 Ambiance: 9/10 Staff: 7/10 Customer Service: 6/10 Over-all rating: 7.8/10
