Our room was spacious, nicely decorated and very comfortable. We enjoyed the facilities in the Executive Lounge. Breakfast in the restaurant and the Executive Lounge were excellent. The hotels location is perfect in terms of shopping and transport.

2 night stay over the weekend, booked a premier king room and got upgraded to an advantage king room, which was on the 19th floor wth a nice unobstructed view to the west. The lobby and bar look fantastic and create a wow factor. Nice fresh flowers everywhere. It was easy to grab a cab out the front. It’s well located to public transport, dining and shops without the noise intrusion in to the hotel. We dined a la carte for breakfast at Ten Stories and the quality was average and coffee poor- it was even served in takeaway cups ! Whilst the service was fine, we went elsewhere the following day for breakfast. The pool area has seen a revamp and it looks great. The water was quite fresh for a heated pool. The pool menu was rather limited and the QA code situation was a bother. You are clearly a guest using the pool but you have to provide so much information just to order. They need a new system for this. The area sees sun in the morning from about 9-1030 then from 2pm. I was bummed that the pool was closed for maintenance on Monday. We ate in Archers and the food was delicious. We weren’t that fussed on the room, the bathroom was old but in good condition, however the design was poor and the shower leaked across the floor on entry to the bathroom. The bed wasn’t that comfortable and our backs were sore. No top sheet provided just a doona. We had stayed at The Porterhouse (also Accor) the week before which was divine, so we had high expectations I guess. We asked for and were granted a one hour later check out, however the key was not programmed and the lights etc turned off, so we didn’t stay. I’m not sure if I would stay again, the pool and Arches could entice me,

I was looking for a staycation for my wife's 40th birthday. I ended up picking the Swissotel as the location and amenities did appeal to me. I called a week prior and asked the reception/reservations (onsite) staff to confirm their procedure with connecting rooms and was advised to first book a King and Twin Room then call once that had been completed and then the Swissotel staff could confirm my request for my family (2 adults + 2 young children). I then proceeded to book our stay and called and confirmed via phone with the hotel staff directly 3 days prior to my stay on the Friday just gone. Upon my arrival we were greeted by the concierge who took 20 minutes to work out that there was no such notes left on my booking (even though the person who confirmed it on the phone 3 days prior knew there were two bookings in both my wife's and my name). They spent this time trying to work out what to do and the solutions were as follows - no connecting rooms but adjoining rooms or moving us to the "upgraded" executive suite (1 room) with a "sofa bed arrangement" (Complete even with a well written welcome card for another Accor Platinum member and a welcome plate of crackers and dried fruit). As this was a milestone event for my wife we decided to stay with the Executive room and were given a room next to the lift shaft with a bath that didn't work properly. Funnily enough we were offered our rooms and the hotel did move the bags without us being there the following day (Saturday) which we hastily took given this was our original request (and if we wanted the executive suite it would of been the one we booked). At this point in time I will say that the hotel is very nice, and the two rooms we were then moved as per our original booking/request were very clean, tidy and were exactly the reason as to why we wished to book the Swissotel in the first place. The breakfast was very tasty and generous in the offerings. The pool is a nice quaint area and the gym has modern equipment. All in all, the stay at Swissotel would of been a five star experience had it not been for the heavy handedness of the staff behind the front desk. The blasé take it or leave it approach is not befitting of a self described 5 star luxury hotel; a simple call on the day or the day prior where there were no rooms available could have avoided a thoroughly disappointing experience. Special mention to Deepa who did everything that I considered to be in her direct control to make good of a poor situation.

The staff were efficient and friendly on arrival. My room on the 25th floor was clean and quiet with a good view over the city. The executive lounge was comfortable and had a good choice of food and drinks available. The position of the hotel is excellent for museums, galleries, theatres, shopping and night-life anywhere in the CBD. I would highly recommend this hotel as I have stayed there previously and enjoyed the experience.

We attended a concert at the state theatre. How good was it to just walk across the street to the Swissôtel Sydney. The service was great in the restaurant & bar. Definitely stay again. The room was well appointed with a sunny morning aspect. The Gym had new equipment.
