I cannot speak highly enough about this hotel. It’s beautiful, elegant, comfortable, and luxurious. I came for a work event, and enjoyed myself so much I extended my stay for a mini personal oasis. I so enjoyed the grounds - it felt like an Italian villa. Food and wine selection were wonderful, albeit pricey. The staff were absolutely fantastic - everyone I encountered was wonderful, but the front desk staff in particular. They were attentive, supportive, professional, polite and still incredibly warm and inviting. That balance can be difficult to strike, especially at an upscale hotel where service can feel still, and yet they executed it beautifully. I so look forward to coming back.

Our daughter was recently married at this property and we spent 6 lovely nights here. I cannot say enough good things about the FGDM. The property itself is stunning--well maintained and has so many places to walk around and discover. There is always a place to grab a bite-whether you want to venture downstairs to Amaya or enjoy eating at the lobby lounge (or in the library area). The waitstaff always manages to find you and attend to your needs. The cafe on floor 3 (which is the main lobby floor) has wonderful coffees and light breakfast items plus snacks etc... you will not go hungry! Unfortunately, we were unable to get a reservation at the double michelin star Addison this time but it gives us an excuse to arrange another trip around a visit to Addison! Our room overlooked the adult pool area which was very quiet; the room was spacious and well appointed. I am not sure how they manage it, but it seems the minute you leave for breakfast in the morning housekeeping must swoop in and clean your room. Evening turndown came with a delicious chocolate covered oreo! I must compliment the front desk...Neil was so gracious and helpful as was the concierge and all of the other front desk staff. The bell staff was incredibly helpful and quick to attend to whatever was needed. Room service was phenomenal as well If golf is your game, you are in the right place as well. And afterwards, you can enjoy a great lunch overlooking the golf course. Again great food! Needless to say property put on an extraordinary wedding; everything was perfection. So if you are looking at FGDM for an event you will be impressed. We are looking forward to returning to this hidden gem in Del Mar...thank you for a great visit.

Hotel Staff are like no other, they go out of their way to ensure you're happy while you're there. Neil at the front desk went above and beyond, he really made a difference. I thought I was in a fairytale, reccommended to celebrate special occasions without a doubt.

I came for a conference and found the stay truly delightful. The team members were great. The food was amazing. The accommodations, terrific. The ONLY thing I wish was different were the robes. Since I'm not a small guy, a standard robe doesn't work for me. I know I'm not the only one who wouldn't be able to take advantage of an amenity like this, so it's something that management may want to look into. How many other guests might feel left out by not being accommodated because they aren't saying anything? Back to the team and the food: Everyone... EVERYONE I spoke with was wonderful. They all seemed to enjoy being there and they all seemed very hospitality focused. This is a great reflection on management's engagement around values. I had room service which was great and I also enjoyed an expensive burger at the clubhouse. I would rank it among the top three burgers I've EVER had. Truly exceptional. All in all, a great stay!

The hotel grounds are beautiful, but what sets this property apart from other five-star hotels in this category is the customer service. This was very consistent throughout my stay, from the front desk staff, valet staff, and restaurant servers. They addressed me by my name consistently and went out of the way to make my stay as exceptional as possible. The front desk representative even checked in on me the next day to ask if my guests enjoyed their visit at the spa, a little detail that had come up the day before.
