I'm truly shocked about how terrible the service was. Aside from the dining staff who was wonderful, the front desk staff let us down every time we asked for something. From the first call I made after booking online when the concierge told us we didn't need to book anything in advance to our first 5 minutes in the hotel when the front desk associate was incredibly sassy and rude, mocking us about trying to make it to sunrise at lake moraine without plans and reservations (which we didn't know we needed thanks to the concierge) to our room not being ready after the website had told us it was, to us consistently telling staff, including the manager we spoke to about our problems with no effort to make the situation correct, to the hot tub on site destroying my favorite $300 bathing suit because the chemicals were way too strong and me calling the front desk from my room and also telling the front desk about this at checkout with no response or follow up, the whole experience screamed motel 8 and not a luxury hotel. I travel globally for work and have stayed at hundreds of hotels from Four Seasons and Ritz Carltons to many a Double Tree and Holiday Inn. If I hadn't know this was a Fairmont, maybe I would have been fine with the service/experience as it was definitely comparable to that of a Holiday Inn, but having never stayed at one, I had heard great things and was completely shocked at how underwhelming and off putting the whole experience was. If not for the location, I would never recommend this property.

Amazing customer service can only take you so far. Our view was beautiful. However, we expected better quality food and room decor. Our bed sheets had holes in them, the desk chair was extremely worn out. For the price we expected more.

Since a child I’ve always wanted to stay here and at 52 I finally made it happen and was able to share the wonderful experience with my daughter. Every bit was as I imagined. The hotel is very grand and the staff were wonderful. Dinner outside in the lounge was spectacular as we watched the sun go down over Lake Louise. Can’t wait to go back!

Staying in a Gold room with the Fairmont I would not expect the fridge plug & lighting plug to be strung 3' exposed. It looked like the dresser was moved to center the mirror, but the receptacle was not located to accommodate this. Having kids - they went after the cords right away & unplugged the fridge. The GFI in bathroom kept tripping & I let the Gold desk know about this. My wife's air dryer was only 600w, so shouldn't be tripping that easy unless she was standing in water... I had called service to get my pants & shirts pressed, but nothing every happened. Overall we had a good time - just expect a little bit more. always!

Visiting Lake Louise and staying at the Chateau never gets old. The lake itself is of course spectacular, and the hotel is among the most iconic in the World. Even in these challenging times, when hospitality businesses are stretched due to low staffing levels, we were well taken care of, the food was delicious and the overall experience, wonderful. Thanks for a great stay.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Fairmont Banff. Great facility, excellent room was given to us facing the Lake. Really welcoming atmosphere.

The king is, in fact, not wearing any pants. This hotel is way overpriced in spite of great location. Hype does not match reality.

It was my choice to stay at the Chateau, and click on the $500 a night advanced booking basic room rate. I feel like such a sucker. The king is, in fact, not wearing any clothes. This property is amazingly located with incredible views, and I understand that's what one is paying for. Still, with a midweek off-season rate for a basic king room with no view, it was over $550 after taxes and fees- just terrible value for a basic room, with a worn toilet seat cover, peeling wallpaper in the bathroom, threadbare carpet at the threshold of the bathroom floor (yes, I have photos)...though the in-room espresso machine and mini fridge were appreciated. The resort's pool (opening at a late 8am) was passable, it wasn't ideal for lap swimming, and there is a tiny windowless "stretch room". The dining options are also way overpriced for the value of the food received. Basically, this would be a nice hotel at about 1/3 the cost, so if you care about costs and value, consider other options. If you want a resort in the heart of the Rockies with epic views and money is no object, book a lake view suite!

Was travelling with my partner and thought we’d treat our selves to a nice hotel. Was expecting too too much knowing that this is a more traditional hotel. But was definitely expecting decent service. Hotel staff was disorganized and unprofessional from beginning to end. Our room was not ready until hours after our check-in time. We were told that we would receive a text once the room’s ready but never received this text. After sitting around the lobby for a long time, we complained to front desk only to find out our room was apparently ready a while ago, just no one bothered to notify us! Finely got our room, only to find a pile of garbage in front our room, it didn’t get taken away until we called concierge. The so called “mountain view” is just looking out at the parking lot with the mountains in the back ground. LOL. Dinner at the hotel was also ridiculous. There wasn’t many choices in the area, we thought we’d make dinner reservations while waiting for our very delayed room. My partner and I got engaged that very day and had asked hostess to give us a nice window seat, she totally agreed and promised a great seat with a view. And of course when it came to the time of our reservation there was was mix-up and we didn’t have the seats. I’m really having a hard time understanding why we spent all this $$$ just to have an experience like this on the day of our engagement. Really disappointed in the Fairmount. Will never stay there again. And will not recommend.

Stayed for 4 nights had a lakeview room and it was five star service all the way. They even included a complimentary canoe experience on Lake Louise if you stayed 4 nights, experience of a lifetime! Love this hotel, the restaurants, bars and spa. We experienced it all and the fondue and spa were also top highlights!

Our experience was overall great except there were two concerns related to cleanliness. We were required to transfer rooms. In the first room there was a pullout sofa. When I pulled out the sofa, it was obvious that it had not been cleaned under the sofa as there were personal items from a previous guest. Due to it being late, I left the items there, made the bed and put kids to bed. Then in the second room we moved to I found a food wrapper from a previous guest under the bedside table. I am hoping the cleaning staff can be alerted that the cleanliness could improve in those two areas.

Check-In Debacle

Booked the stay for my wife's birthday while touring the Rockies. Email in the am on check-in day asking for check-in time preference. Selected 1pm and the email reply confirmed our room would be prioritized. Arrived early afternoon and checked-in. Sorry, short staffed and room would be delayed. Likely very soon but certainly by 4pm. Then by 5pm. Finally 5.55pm. Would have been better to be upfront when we checked in to say 6pm then at least we could have made a decision on an activity for the afternoon. Very frustrating as we had to cancel the family Zoom Birthday call and present opening and also change our birthday dinner reservations for later in the evening. Saw many other guests in the same situation. What did I learn. That the Hotel Mgmt really do not understand how to adapt to new processes. Our room was actually the last in the corridor. So now I know why we were so delayed as the cleaning staff mechanically moved down the aisle cleaning rooms, no prioritization here. I discovered the next day as they refreshed our room mid afternoon, that this refresh was also at the expense of new guest rooms being available. And all this time, the poor front office staff were left to fend off the disgruntled guests with not a Senior Mgmt person in sight. Our dinner waiter commented (when he saw of free drink vouchers) that this was an ongoing issue causing daily complaints, but Mgmt continued to sell to capacity despite not being able to meet service standards. Unfortunately, a first impression that was lasting. PS. Stayed in Fairmont Jasper later in the week, much better Mgmt and focusl on managing the guest experience.

Was here for my honeymoon and got upgraded to a junior suite! Even though it wasn't facing Lake Louise, we were elated nevertheless! Best of all we got a bottle of Champagne to go along with it! The place is huge, would call it almost an integrated resort, with many shops in the hotel itself. Stayed for only 1 night but would love to spoend 2 nights here if i could afford it!

Dear hotnivlek, Thank you for choosing Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise to celebrate your honeymoon! We are happy to know that your one night stay in a Junior Suite guestroom was a memorable experience, and we hope to welcome you back for another outstanding stay in the stunning destination of Lake Louise again soon!
