My wife and I were just married this past weekend and scheduled a last-minute honeymoon/I wish I could say that our stay at this hotel was comfortable and refreshing, but unfortunately, I would describe it as underwhelming and disappointing. We had booked a Fairmont Gold category room as recommended by the customer contact centre. Upon arrival, the Gold floor staff were not aware of our reservation, and we were asked to wait in our vehicle while they verified the booking on the computer — despite my explanation that the reservation was made at the last minute and likely hadn’t printed on the daily report. Whilst I understand it can be inconvenient for those to unload their vehicles in the wrong area and disrupt operations it felt slightly patronizing. When we arrived to the front desk we were advised we were placed in what we were told was an upgraded room; however, it was located right next to the lounge area and proved to be rather loud and uncomfortable especially in the early mornings. The lounge itself felt cramped and somewhat chaotic, and obtaining breakfast or even coffee was nothing short of a circus due to the layout of the space. Fairmont gold is not worth the experience by any stretch. I would say the service was average

Only stayed one night but the experience was well worth it. Historic hotel, impeccable service, many restaurants to choose from.

Historic hotel in a gorgeous location, very helpful concierge

I stayed here for 3 days before a conference/retreat and then three additional days for a work retreat. Obviously this is a historic landmark hotel in absolutely stunning environments and I was sad to have to leave yesterday. The location and the view of the mountains are incredible. The hotel itself has great amenities, though a bit dated and it was unfortunate the outdoor pool was being fixed when the conference was happening. My room was in the conference center which I was initially disappointed by but the room was very large and had a turet with a sitting area and view of the hotel and mountains, which I later learned was MUCH better and huge compared to the equivalent band within the hotel (I heard from my colleagues that the rooms were TINY which is surprising given how much the hotel cost). So I highly recommend staying in room 2509. It's a bit of a bummer to have to walk by Hertz, a copy center, and into the relatively characterless conference center to get to the room rather than the beautiful lobby and historic hotel, but I think worth it once you're in the room. I needed to get some over the counter medications in town and the concierge was incredibly helpful and went out of their way to assist and facilitate in an extremely speedy and responsive manner which I was very impressed by and appreciative of. I can't remember her name but on my first day when I checked in, the trainee at the counter was incredibly gracious and helpful and spent lots of time to address my questions which I appreciated.

A grand hotel that could use some updating

There is much to like about this grand place. The architecture and the setting are magnificent. The staff is friendly and it has the feel of luxury from past generations. We had a wonderful dinner in the Vermilion Room. The grab and go place in The Libby had excellent breakfast sandwiches. On the downside the common spaces seem dark and dated. The menus in the bar were dirty and stained and the service there was terrible. Our room was quite small and the bathroom was about the size of the bathrooms in a cruise ship stateroom. There was no place to hang wet towels The maid service left a dirty dust rag on the floor and left wet towels hanging on the door knobs and over the shower enclosure. All that being said it I am glad that I stayed here

Absolutely blown away with the location, buildings, rooms, staff and all round magic of this place. Without doubt one of the most fantastic hotels we’ve stayed in with a relaxed and relaxing style that really works. There almost aren’t enough words to describe the feeling from check-in to departure. Just absolute perfection.
