A very Average Stay!

Firstly, I've rejected this hotel twice in past due to ridiculous parking confirmation nonsense. Previously asked to create an account on a parking website!!! No thanks. On this occasion I was again asked to scan qr codes, etc. Refused, but I did manage to eventually pay and get a receipt thankfully. I was not directed to either breakfast area or my room and had to ask. Fair to say receptionist and I did not get on. The breakfast was rather chaotic. There's a buffet (sparse food selection left at continental) and coffee was cold. A few slices of bread left in basket. Hot buffet was good and I ordered a nice omelette (see photo) from the excellent waitress on duty (sounded like an African name). She also got me a hot coffee which was nice of her. The room was a bit tired and dated. Very noisy as older building re floorboards, etc. The tea/coffee selection was messy and poor in general. The bed was comfy but 2 pillows are not enough for a king size bed. I could not access any hot water so had a cold shower prior to work. I checked out early as not prepared to go through the parking nonsense again. The receptionist on my leaving was friendly and helpful. I wouldn't return due to the parking and other issues. I'd have scored less but the lovely waitress improved my mood.

Poor poor state

Wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all,it’s very tired and needing lots of upgrading, only stayed one night, music from nightclub across the road blasted out until 2 in the morning,we had a suite but windows a mess, curtains stained, bed small and bedside wall light had a shade that hung over the bed so you constantly hit it! ,paintwork in hallway a mess and broken window too, never left a hotel so early in the morning, staff apologised when we said it was terrible but clearly used to this as not overly concerned! Definitely won’t be back

well located, good staff

good experience although missing a bit of a gym area.

Average overnight rooms for a hotel that has so much character and charm

I've stayed at the hotel twice over the past couple of months for work events, and on both occasions the rooms I stayed in were very average, which disappointed me given how much character and charm is around you as you walk through the hotel. On the first occasion I was given single room, it was dull, not inviting at all, and smelt of damp, I was moved to a double room, which was nicer, but the shower was dirty, water was not draining away, and dirt and hair was repeating back up through the plughole, and there was black mould around the shower and bath. The second occasion, I was in a double room, but it had no character, felt very cold and not welcoming. The shower was better, but every time the person next door used the shower there was a constant loud vibrating noise coming from the pipes which did not stop until they turned off the shower. The team and meeting rooms, are brilliant, it feels like the rooms need investment to stay attractive to new and returning Customers.

Ye good stay
