We stayed in the “Gordon Suite”. Room overlooks Union st gardens. Extremely comfortable bed; excellent water pressure and hot water. No complaints!

For a traveler a few things are of paramount importance. Service, cleanliness, wifi and location. The Mercure Aberdeen Caledonian meets all the requirements and more. The best was that there is available paid parking right next door. The room was compact but comfortable. The morning breakfast was great. The location of the hotel right on union street meant most places, restaurants and Pubs were walking distance or covered by a bus ride from The door step of the hotel. And the service was polite and non intrusive. Loved the stay here.

On arrival I checked in and asked if breakfast would be included as I’m a platinum member, the lady on reception said no, I then asked for my 2 free drink vouchers again she said that wasn’t included. Fortunately the drinks vouchers came straight to my phone app and showed this to the receptionist, at this point she said oh I can see your platinum breakfast is included. In the morning I was then informed breakfast was not included where it clearly states on the T&C’s that the Mercure in Aberdeen is part of the deal to which I took screenshots and forwarded these to head office in a complaint.

Hotel room was clean but standards have gone downhill. Parking costs are ridiculously high with no warning prior to parking. Breakfast was not of a high standard, with look warm coffee coming from the coffee machine and cooked food not particularly warm either. No service at all. I would no longer recommend this hotel to others or return to it as a guest.

i always ask for a quiet room but for the last two visits I have been given a room which is incredibly noisy.

Stayed for 2 nights. Room was extremely outdated and in desperate need of modernisation and nothing like the example photos when booking. Bathroom the same with little to no ventilation. The bath also has a sigh reminding to use the shower curtain which is too short for it's purpose leaving water all over the floor. Breakfast was poor. Hot food was stone cold even when fresh out. Extremely disappointed and will not return.

As said no issues with hotel, my problem was with trying to get a reply in a change if plans. I emaiked twice , followed up with a phone call, which I was then promised that the manager would be asked and a reply given. No reply was ever received. Advice is, the simple things make a big difference.

Dinner was too greasy for us, however the service was great. Breakfast, the cooked was kept warm to long, but the continental and Danish pastries were good.

We were lucky to be allocated a room overlooking the gardens which really made my stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom appeared to have been recently improved. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

A bit disappointing at check in. Dealvwas deluxe twin room overlooking union gardens. I had stated before on sane itison deal and knew what to expect. I didn't expect to be given a standard twin dull dark room overlooking another block of rooms. Thus was a birthday trip wuth ny best friend. I had told her all about my last trip and beautiful room and view. Then to be put in2 a rm no view sbd obvs not deluxe I was extremely disappointed to say the least. So I contacted reception who got manager for me and she moved us room to the room I expected. Why do this! It just upset me especially as it was a trip for my upcoming birthday. The room had been booked months previously. After we settled everything was perfect. Breakfast was amazing. Everything you need. Thanks you. I will return but hopefully the correct room type will be given at the outset.

We had a really nice experience, staff were very pleasant room was spotless and fresh , breakfast was very good great choice and the man on duty was so nice and knowledgeable and made us feel welcome

I’ve been staying at this hotel a handful of times because of the location. A charming hotel with ok standard. This last stay I got the tiniest room ever with a terrible bed. Noise from plumbing at shower (all the time/not when showering) was annoying. Bed (possibly the floor) was tilting to the side. A New vinyl floor at bathroom, on top of broken tiles felt like a too cheep fix… Anyway - nice location and other rooms are good :-) Staff is nice. I will probably go back sometime.

We stayed 3 nights and it was very convenient location wise. We could walk to restaurants and shops with ease. We prefer a walk in shower however none was available so we shall make sure to request this if we decide to return. The plumbing in the hotel where we were was noisy however we did sleep well and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel requires parts of it to be refurbished. We found the bedroom and bathrooms clean and the rate per night probably reflected the fact that the hotel was in need of an upgrade.

Room was comfortable. Most of the staff cheerful and helpful. We had an early flight out and the evening before leaving were told that as we had paid for breakfast we would be able to help ourselves from the cold buffet. In the morning the two staff on duty didn't know about this and said at first we couldn't have anything. Eventually they let me make a cup of tea and I helped myself to some cereal, but wasn't allowed any fruit. When my friend came in she helped herself to some juice and fruit! We were made to feel very uncomfortable. Would not stay there again.

Have stayed here a few times with no problems but this time we had a problem when trying to get into hotel late at night, rang doorbell at least five times before a rude man buzzed us in with not even as much as a grunt let alone an apology

I am not happy with Mercure for the following reasons: 1. I tried to book the breakfast on the app but failed - told the reception desk who said sorry we can only add the full charge of £12 and not the reduced charge of £10 2. The lift was out of order and it was rather an effort to climb to the 4th floor given heart issues. The hotel when they found that the lift could not be fixed that day could have emailed patrons so that alternative arrangement could be made

I found the quality of the hotel itself (furnishing, rooms, etc) to be fairly standard. I was very disappointed that the lift was out of order and that, with me being on the upper third floor, no offer was made to assist me with my luggage to my room. My biggest criticism, however, is that I found the staff particularly unfriendly and unhelpful. I'd say even the worst hotel staff I have encountered anywhere. My reservation was for a room and breakfast for one night. On check-in, the receptionist somehow added an additional breakfast charge to my total which I unknowingly paid. When I met my colleagues in the hotel bar for a drink on the evening the bar-person was particularly unfriendly, made no attempt at even asking what I wanted and instead had a silent "what do you want" attitude. When I returned to the hotel later in the evening and tried to get a few bottles of still water for my room I was literally met with the same person who flatly told me "what do you want? the bar's closed. if you want a drink you'll have to order it on room service". Which I did. And the delivering staff member didn't even speak, just handed me the bottles and walked off. The next morning, at check-out, I explained that there had been a 2nd breakfast added to my bill and that I would like it a full refund on my personal debit card which I used to check-in so that the stay could be charged to my works corporate card instead. The reluctant receptionist glumly told me that was a long process and asked if I really wanted to do that. Which I did. And she practically rolled her eyes at me. I understand that staff are real people and that it can be difficult to force a smile and put some effort into customer service at times but I have to say out of the four employees I encountered at the hotel, not one of them made any effort to communicate in a friendly accommodating manner and left a very bad impression.

Lift was broken and we were on the 4th floor, front desk staff acted liked we were bothering them, mattress was incredibly thin and bonus, someone was took a shit outside our door. I question the hotel's security.

I stayed at the Mercure Aberdeen Caledonian Hotel for one night on a business trip. It is convienently placed next to Union Street and in my opinion, you get a lot for what you pay for. This was the third time I have stayed and I will likely return again. The staff were friendly, my single room was emmaculately clean and contained all the ammeneties that I required for my short stay.
