I have just stayed at the Mercure Rougemont Exeter hotel for 9 days and all I can say is that it was the most wonderful hotel experience I have ever had. I can honestly say we felt like part of the family while we were there. My colleagues and I were there for work and every single person who works at this hotel was incredible! Jake, the manger was extremely helpful and welcoming, Kara and Rachel on reception, along with all the other front of house team were fabulous! They greeted us every day as friends, nothing was too much trouble and while I was there it was my birthday and they went above and beyond to make me feel special while I was away from home. The team at breakfast and the housekeeping team were lovely and although I was looking forward to getting home, I was also sad to leave the team and the hotel behind. I would fully recommend this hotel to everyone and when I am down in Exeter again I will not be staying anywhere else.

Beautiful hotel, excellent location and wonderful staff. We didn’t eat there so can’t comment on that. The very friendly and helpful Canadian lady at reception surely upgraded us to a Privilege Room, as we had the most fantastic room at a bargain price! Huge room: robes, slippers, espresso machine, mini-fridge, massive corner bath, plush armchairs - the lot. We called ahead regarding parking and were informed of a party in progress - and alternative parking - but we were lucky enough to get a spot. It was £12.50 for 24hrs, which is very cheap in Exeter. You can come and go but only one charge (my friend had to nip to the office). Yes - it’s a little tired in places, but certainly not shabby - it’s an old building and has great character. There’s a spacious lift. We had no issues with noise (even though we were at the front) and were offered earplugs as the party was pretty loud, but finished at 8. Plenty of hot water, good pressure. Bed was superb, as were the pillows and bedding. Plenty of towels. Temperature was spot on. Good amount of mirrors, lights, surfaces, hanging room, storage and plug points. Ironing board, iron & hairdryer in room. Shame we were there for just one night - but we’re local so will be back! Thank you to all at The Rougemont (especially Ms Canada) for making our stay perfect!

Good solid characterful hotel with friendly staff right opposite station

Stayed in privilege king room 133 last night. On a rail holiday and it was a useful stopover as right opposite Exeter central station. Had some Accor points accumulated so room was very good value. Really friendly guy greeted us at reception, took a genuine interest in our rail journey. No queue, quick and efficient. There is a lift but our room was easier to access up the extremely grand staircase with a massive stained glass window. The whole foyer was beautiful, felt like going back to the golden age of rail. First floor view across to an office building and to the BBC building on the left. Room itself was immaculate. Coffee pod machine, fridge/minibar (with water only, as I had pre-requested), kettle for tea and a glass bottle of fresh local milk to add. Ironing board, safe and hairdryer in the wardrobe. Soft towels in bathroom, dressing gowns and slippers. Good quality toiletries, cotton buds and shower cap. A little sign saying to ask reception for anything else needed. Bed was comfy, kids sofa bed was ok too. Husband gets very hot so was grateful for the fan he found in the wardrobe. Free welcome drinks with silver accor membership, went to the bar to left of reception, friendly server who was very patient with me sending choices to husband back in room! Beers/cider on tap and bottles, water, soft drinks. No cocktails, fine wines or champagne (not bother me). Didn’t try breakfast as we had an early train. But would definitely stay here again, it was a great hotel.

Cheguei ao hotel na segunda feira e o check in não foi acolhedor. Atribuiram o quarto 204 e não avisaram que tinha de subir escadas, vusto ter uma mala grande. Acho que essas informações têm de ser ditas ao cliente. No quarto, a sanita estava suja. Desci à receção e pedi que fosse alguém ao quarto para limpar. Disseram que iam mandar alguém. Quando voltei ao quarto depois do jantar, estava igual. Eu tive de limpar, para poder utilizar a sanita. A cama tinha cabelos. Também tive eu de sacudir para poder dormir. No restaurante do hotel, quando entrei para jantar, não fui cumprimentada, apesar de ter dado boa noite. Na minha opinião, para um Mercure, deveria ser standard cumprimentar os clientes. A preocupação do staff foi, trazer a conta antes da comida ser servida. Não gostei e acho que para o tipo de hotel, o serviço poderia ser melhor.
