Adequate Short Stay

Front door of the hotel was broken. Had checked in online but this was not recognised. ALL Gold status not recognised. Small room with no view. Adequate for an overnight and good location. Would preferentially stay at the Holiday Inn around the corner.

Accidentally booked this hotel instead of the other IBIS but I was very glad I did, this hotel is really beautiful and one of the better hotels I've stayed in Manchester. The staff managed to help me when I arrived get all settled after some issues thanks to booking.com and got me all settled for my two days, the next day they also helped me with getting a taxi to where I was meant to go, both instances the staff at reception had been really lovely and helpful, never made to feel like an inconvenience. The room was really good and well decorated (rm 424) I was actually impressed. Between the days, the room was tided and everything replaced which I didn't expect either. The Aircon was also on which I appreciated! My only complaint was the signal for the TV was nonexistent so I couldn't watch TV but the other pros outweighed the con. Will definitely be back.

Firstly, my self and my partner stayed in this hotel in February and it was fine no issues apart from the breakfast. We booked again for a birthday present for my mother in law for her 70th birthday we took her to a pre season united game. Upon arriving there was no linen in the rooms or towels - the receptionist forgot to mention to us which these things happen we were told these would be arriving at 6pm they didn't come till half 7. My mother in laws room had a sanitary pad over the smoke alarm which is disturbing and disgusting. The next day we was out for a whole day come back and the beds were made, no new towels again no linen delivery. We also discovered that my partners mums room was open after house keeping made the bed even worse that manager goes round and checks this is a safety risk especially with someone being at a elderly age. Our bathroom had leaked so we advised reception before we left for the left we came back and housekeeping used our towels to clean the mess we couldn't believe especially with the linen shortage we therefore couldn't take a shower. We were told that these would arrive by 11pm and that they would leave them outside the door. They didn't arrive. Myself and my partner went to the bar for a drink that evening and there were two women who had just arrived complaining to a night manager about the no linen issue the manager advised that this hasn't happened we then mentioned that it has all weekend. On our check out day we raised these issues with the manager (a long queue for this person that morning). We then noticed one of the women from the night before holding a bed sheet which was given to her to have a shower. It is utterly unacceptable for a hotel to run like this and I won't be staying here again.

Upon arrival we were told the locks to our room door wasn't working. We were in a hurry and they assured us that we could leave our belongings in the room and it would be fixed immediately. When we returned we found that our door had not been fixed and it had been left unlocked all evening with all our belongings in there. We were also asked to spend the night in this room, to sleep, whilst the door remained unlocked. We requested another room which took a very long time to arrange. When we eventually were given keys to the room it was a massive downgrade. There was one window which was infront of a wall so there was no natural light at all. It was a 2 single bed room and one bed had no pillows. There was no TV remote, there wasn't anything actually. And the ironing board was broken. I have since contacted the hotel and they have yet to reply. This has been 4 months and I hate leaving bad reviews so I have tried to leave it as long as possible but being ignored is as bad as the poor accommodation. To be fair, they did offer a free breakfast. Which turned out to be a few bits of dry toast, some ham and a boiled egg.

We stayed for a short 2 night break. Here's my pros and cons; Pros: The location is very handy, close to the main shops and plenty of restaurants and bars. It has its own restaurant / bar with tables and chairs outside which were great for the sunny evenings. The shower was very good. Breakfast was OK and the coffee was very good. Cons; Not enough towels and their seemed to be an issue with their laundry supplies. Maybe for the above reason the duvet had no cover on it and a holey old sheet below and over it. The mattress was stained, no duvet protector either. No spare pillows, 1 of the 2 pillows on the bed was so soft it was rubbish. Housekeeping had missed a half eaten packet of sweets down by the bed. Breakfast is not as pictured. It's also eaten off side plates which made eating beans on toast a messy affair. It does look a bit tired and grotty in places.
