Hôtel Mercure Nancy Centre Gare 4 estrellas

I stayed two nights at the Hotel Mercure Nancy Centre Gare for a conference in October 2022. The hotel is very convenient for the station - only 2 minutes walk, for the conference centre - 5 minutes walk and Place Stanislas in the centre - 10 minutes walk. I had a nice big modern room overlooking La Rue Raymond Poincare which had the usual modern facilities one would expect of a 4 star hotel. The big double bed I had was very comfortable and there was a big T.V and tea and coffee making facilities. Good well-sized bathroom with a great shower and complimentary toiletries. The breakfast was really good and offered all the usual excellent French pastries, bread, cold cuts, fish, cheeses, fruits, boiled eggs, juices and hot coffee, tea and chocolate. In addition there was also scrambled eggs, bacon and sausages. So all in all, a very pleasant stay.

Nos alojamos una noche en este hotel de regreso del viaje de vacaciones. Llegamos de noche muy tarde y el trato y la atención fueron inmejorables. El desayuno muy correcto.

Close to the train station. Room are large, look modern and the bedding is comfortable. Good breakfast (if you're more into a savoury breakfast, your choices will be more limited though). Service was ok but we had to repeat requests. (I.e. the toilet brush was missing and we had to ask twice for it ....).

As so often with hotels from the Merchure chain (part of Accor) the one at Nancy Gare has a very convenient location, especially if one travels by train. It is also in an easy walking distance to the center with Place Stanislas, where there is another Mercure hotel, named after that famous square. The Mercure Centre Gare occupies part of the Thiers Tower, with 90m of altitude Nancy's tallest construction, built in the 1970's and with its modern highrise style not to everybody's pleasure. It consists of 28 floors, mainly with offices, while the hotel part only has rooms on 8 floors, a total of 88. Reception was friendly and without many formalities we were handed out the key, especially since the Mercure chain offers an online check in. We had booked a 'chambre classique' and got a room on the third floor with a nice view over the traffic-free square by the railway station, the Place Simone-Veil. It was also very quiet during all our stay. The room - with a grey wall-to-wall carpet, white walls, but also some wood - had all we needed, plenty of electrical outlets, also tea and coffee making facilities. In an empty fridge (which I prefer to minibars) was a complimentary bottle of water, although tap water here is good and safe. The bathroom had a bathtub and exquisite toiletries by the company Nuxe from Paris. Breakfast was in the restaurant on the groundfloor, a quite big aery space. At the buffet were several fruit and berries, various cold cuts, cheeses and salmon, also all kind of bakery. Scrambled eggs (not so quickly replaced), bacon and sausages were available. There was the possibility to fry eggs oneself, as well as to squeeze fresh orange juice. It had two coffee machines, a Melitta and a Nespresso, also for self use. Unfortunately if one needed some advice, the staff there had not always been very helpful. All in all though it was a pleasant stay in a beautiful city and a hotel I would use again, should I return to the Lorraine.
