Would highly recommend this hotel, the location was great, 2 minutes walk from Bogatell Metro, easy access to the beach, 30 minute walk to La Rambla. Lots of nice places to eat in the local vicinity. Great breakfast with plenty of choice. Children love the ping pong and foosball table. Good food from the kitchen and nice outdoor space to relax in. Rooms were comfortable and adequate for our stay, a little more storage space and tea facilities would have made the stay even better. We did manage to use the pool which was quite cold.

A great budget hotel near the centre of Barcelona. Hotel amenities were excellent. They have a pool on the roof and pleasant communal areas both inside and out. Breakfast can be purchased as an extra but tea and coffee available freely. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and it had a very positive vibe. Thank you

How Ibis Bogatel Handled a Serious Incident

I stayed with my family for five nights at Ibis Styles Barcelona City Bogatell. The hotel is generally good, but only if you don't need any help or encounter any issues. Unfortunately, my ten month old son received an electric shock due to a loose wire in the bedside lamp. After spending a night in the hospital, we returned to the hotel, where we were offered a refund for one night as "compensation"—but only if we agreed to waive our right to contact the hotel’s insurance. The manager presented this as a goodwill gesture, claiming uncertainty about whether we or the hotel were at fault. In reality, it was not a goodwill gesture but an attempt to settle the matter at the lowest possible cost. Naturally, I didn’t accept the offer right away because I wasn’t willing to give up my rights for just one night’s refund. After a few days of consideration, we decided to accept the offer, as the stress of pursuing legal action didn’t seem worth it, especially since our son had fortunately recovered fully. However, by that time, the hotel had already involved their lawyers and fabricated a story filled with false statements, blaming us entirely and refusing to take any responsibility. It is disheartening how little the hotel and its manager cared about leaving us with a positive experience. In my opinion, this hotel is absolutely not recommended. If a serious issue arises, the manager and their lawyers will do everything possible to twist the situation in the hotel’s favor, leaving the guest to fend for themselves.

To clarify the events during your stay, when informed of the electric shock, we immediately offered medical assistance, including a doctor visit or transportation to the hospital. You requested the doctor's visit, which we arranged promptly, and we removed the faulty lamp. An inspection showed that the room's furniture had been rearranged, and the switch protector damaged. While there were no prior issues in the room, this may have contributed to the incident. After the doctor confirmed your son was okay, you requested a paediatrician for further reassurance. We arranged transport to the hospital, and we were pleased to hear that all tests came back clear. Please know that guest safety is a priority. We conduct regular checks, and our maintenance team reviewed the room’s electrical systems following this event. Our booking clearly requested a quiet room. Upon checking in, we asked if it was a quiet room..."Yes,it is" was the reply. Room 610,immediately opposite the lift. I went back to reception and requested a different room and asked why our request had been ignored. The receptionist told us that rooms are only allocated on the day of your arrival, and the room opposite the lift was our allocated room. The receptionist had a problem with being asked questions and was quite defensive.

Found this hotel after googling “top family hotels in Barcelona”, the price was reasonable & it had all the amenities we needed. Reception was always friendly and helpful. We arrived two hours before check in (check in was 14:00) but they said we could go to rooftop pool to swim. So we did that for a bit then headed to the beach for a good few hours! Stayed here with my 14 yo and 8yo - the bed was pretty decent (we still love premier inn beds) and my 14yo (really tall) son enjoyed the big enough sofa bed just for him, and my daughter & I had ample space on the double bed. If anything I think the mattresses could have been a bit more comfortable, but it was doable. Rooms were cleaned everyday to a great standard & we got clean towels daily. We couldn’t take a bath due to environmental/water saving reasons but that was understandable given the climate. Still enjoyed a great shower every day (sometimes multiple times during the day depending on how many times we headed to the beach!) it would have been nice if there were USB ports in the room, but there were enough wall sockets to plug/recharge our electric gadgets. There were USB ports on one of the long tables in the breakfast area so that came in handy too. kids & I really enjoyed breakfast each day - a selection of continental items (cold ham, cheese, cucumber, tomato etc), cereal (corn flakes, cocoa puffs), hot food (scrambled eggs, small sausages), all types of bread, jams, Nutella spread, fruit salad, fresh fruits (oranges, pears, nectarines etc) various cakes, coffee, juice .. the works! Though one improvement was the milk could have been kept colder, they were all placed on a cold plate but it felt like room temperature milk at times. The time of breakfast was great - 07:00am till 11:00am daily. We even saw some customers bring trays of breakfast from the lobby into their rooms. A few times during breakfast the hotel staff would walk around and offer kids special breakfast plates of fruit made into animal shapes or toast with Nutella made into various designs. Great fun for kids! This is a very flexible hotel, which was perfect for our needs (especially families with members who have differing preferences!) The restaurant in the hotel offers various meals too for dinner/lunch. We had pizza the first night which I thought was a bit overpriced for the size but it still yummy & solved the hunger problem. We were introduced to the app “glovo” by my friend who lives in Barcelona and that was a god send for my kids. As often we were too tired after a full day out to sit in a restaurant and wait for a meal. It basically is the Deliveroo app for Barcelona. The app is in english and has a variety of restaurants we could choose from, you can pay via card/Apple Pay etc and they would deliver straight to hotel. The app was pretty accurate for arrival time so when it the driver was close I just went downstairs to pick up the food. In addition, what was an extra bonus in the hotel was there were free water refill machines one in the breakfast area (to the left once you enter the hotel) and one in the lunch/dinner area (to the right once you enter the hotel). So I bought cheap 750ml or 1L plastic water bottles upon landing in the airport and used that as our water bottles for the entire week we were in Barcelona, refilling whenever we woke up/were back at the airport. Hydrating was a must in this heat! In the lobby there was a small play area for kids (with books, toys, uno cards). I saw some people playing various card games & board games during dinner as well. There is a fooseball table (ask reception for the ball) & ping pong table too. There is also a bucket full of beach items (flippers, beach umbrella, sand buckets & beach toys) free for customers to take as you wished, on the goodwill that it will be returned when finished . The rooftop pool is open 10:00-22:00 and was definitely a plus. It isn’t big enough for lap swimmers but it was perfect for those wishing to have a dip under the sun, and small kids to play around in (we brought our own sinky toys to play with). You can ask for beach towels on the rooftop bar which serves great drinks & nibbles. The temperature of the pool was great too - cold enough during the height of heat during the day but once the sun set a bit the water in the pool was warm too. We even had a few fun dips/swims around 19:00. The location of the hotel was brilliant too. From what I understood we were in the center of a business office area so it was pretty quiet during the weekends & during the weekday it was busier but not in an unpleasant way. Nighttime was real quiet so we all got a great nights sleep. It was about a 3 min walk to the metro (stop: Bogatell on the yellow line L4, use the exit “Pujades” as it brought you closest to the hotel). We were very close to all the hot spots (old town/Barcelona cathedral at metros Jaume I or Urquinaona) and Sagrada de Familia. Also we were only a 10-13min walk to the nearest beach (Nova Icària) - but from there on the beaches went on for miles so plenty of spots on the beach to park yourself for the day. There were small supermarkets (“supermercat”) in almost every block around the hotel so for whatever last minute toiletries or items needed, it was all within reach. All places seemed to accept cash or card. There was also a decent sized indoor shopping mall (great spot to rest as it had AC) near the beach called “centre comercial ‘el centre de la Vila’” which had a really big supermarket in the basement with everything you need. I basically used google maps and google reviews to navigate my way around Barcelona! All in all it was great stay & very convenient for travelling with kids. I would highly recommend & would definitely come stay again!
