Cooinda Lodge Kakadu 3 gwiazdki

This is a really nice lodge with separate cabins that are very comfortable. A chair in the room might be nice though. Such a beautiful setting in the forest with all the birds and animals calling at dawn and dusk. I wish they didn’t have so many lights outdoors but I guess they have to for safety’s sake. Pools are great for cooling off. We were there at the end of the Wet so it was extremely hot and humid—great to have a pool. It would be great if more Indigenous people could be employed instead of European backpackers. But I guess that’s how it works.

We are locals and take people to Kakadu all the time. Went to book the Territory Tourist Bureau special and was redirected to the hotel site which assured "best price guaranteed" - not the case and there were quite a few people staying over the long weekend that similarly got ripped off. Irrespective of whether it is a tourism subsidy or not, best price guaranteed should be exactly what it said and the link that was meant to take us to the cheaper prices didn't work. A number of us were told we would get a response from general manager - this did not happen for me until the week after. Accommodation was not great - we have a covered patio area but our friends who paid the same price did not. None of the rooms had desks or anywhere to sit apart from the bed or the plastic chairs outside. Towels were a bit light on, no bath mat and no face washers. The single beds are tiny and the mattresses are awful - not suitable for adults. Some of our friends stay in the tent rooms and found that the promised kitchen facilities consisted of one toaster, one microwave and no hotplates. There was a queue for the toaster in the morning. Will be staying at the Croc in future.

We stayed for 3 nights as a short get away after Christmas. Our room was very comfortable and clean. We were a group of 7, 4 adults and 3 children. Therefore we had booked 2 rooms. The staff here were the best, so delightful and helpful. We had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant each day and wow the breakfast choices were amazing and so delicious. The swimming pool was such a relaxing experience for all ages. The yellow waters tour just lovely with so much wildlife we did the early morning trip. We went to one of the loo outs not far from our accommodations. We have been here several times but this trip was extra special because of the staff and the amazing food. The store is also well stocked from essentials like food, ice and souvenirs such as Tshirt. I would highly recommend a visit here especially in the off season.

Stayed here 12/11 - 13/11 -24. Stayed one night here in a family room. Nice room with own toilet. Fridge but no microwave. Large pool which is open until 21:00, however it is not lit in the evenings. We were swimming in the evening when I discover that a black snake of about 1.5 meters is heading straight for us in the pool. Not a pleasant experience. Finished bathing after that. Think they should have more lighting in and around the pool. Informed the manager the next day about this. Had lunch at their restaurant. Tried the kangaroo burger it was okay but not much more. For $205 a night, I think breakfast would be included. Prons Pool Clean in the room Good air conditioning Cozy room. Free parking. Refrigerator. Cons No lighting around the swimming pool.

Stayed here for one night as a couple. Booked a family room and happy with this. Only option for an ensuite bathroom. Nice guy at check in. Less nice waitress in the restaurant. Had hamburgers which were bairly ok. Overcooked meat. Waitress annoyed when she had to go back to bring ketchup and aioli to our table. Pool area great but we were disgusted by the two workers who came in and took a swim in the pool. Wearing dirty shorts and underwear. Yes, the shorts were clean when he left the pool after an hour… One HUGE problem are the snakes in the area. No lights in the pool area at night got one snake to get in the pool. Guess the shock when we were staring a black snake in the eyes!! Horrible! When telling the staff at check out they didn’t react like this was an unusual situation at all. ” We removed a 2,5 metre python last night! ” When backtracking reviews we also saw that woman actually got snake bitten in the hotel area not long time ago. Suggestion to the management: Please put up signs about snakes present in the lodge ! We would never have been swimming in the pool in the evening if we knew this. And why don’t you have lights in the pool area?? WiFi didn’t work at all for us. We also missed a microwave in the room.. And the breakfast should really be included for that price we paid. Will not choose this lodge next time in Kakadu.
