Disappointing Crocodile Hotel stay

While the hotel is quite unique in its architectural design, some of the facilities and services offered as a Mercure hotel were surprising and disappointing. The room was very tired and urgently needed renovating throughout. The bed linen was soiled and was not replaced during our three day stay. The bathroom, while functioning, needs refurbishment. Noise between rooms was significant with us being able to hear our neighbours using the bathroom. The dining room experience was not expected with only buffet services being offered at all meals. While it was understandable, given the number of tour buses that passed through the hotel during our stay. To say the menu was limited would be an understatement, and by the end of our visit we were reluctant to use the dinning room. Another quirky feature was that there were brown finger stripes all around the walls of the hotel. When asked, we were advised that they were placed there as there had been a death of an elder. While this is being sensitive to local customs, hotel staff should be briefed better to advise guests. Overall a disappointing visit.

Staff all friendly and helpful Surprised to have to carry suitcase up 2 flights of stairs Restaurant dinner banquet well presented with good options and reasonable quality Rooms met expectations Understand staffing shortages at this time may impact cleaning of bathrooms with time allowed eg coffee spill down side of bath and at entrance door

Stayed 3 nights as a tourist. - Cigarette butts all over the floor of the courtyard. - Called to have room cleaned/fresh towels, was told to wait my turn, room never got cleaned and no towels. - bar closed at 9pm then staff served drinks to themselves at 9:05 (infuriating) - fully dressed locals (not hotel guests) drinking and smoking and watching the pool area which made females in their bathing suites guests feel uncomfortable so they left. All in all a very poor experience from what was touted as the ‘best in town’ with a price tag to match. Better experiences and food to had at the caravan park. A dire hotel experience that is entirely fixable.
