The first IBIS Hotel that was a disappointment for two reasons - i) making their luggage holding service as a Profit Centre; the only Hotel in our 28 day trip across Italy and Switzerland which would not give you and early check in even if rooms are available so that you necessarily use their luggage holding facilities which are prominently displayed at the Check In Counter in a kind of a Standard Utility that you have to avail and pay for - and it is not inexpensive either. They have made a fine art out of it - the self select dashboard gives you many options of both locker size and time usage ii) pathetic breakfast spread - with very very limited options .... and the Staff though polite and courteous expressed their helplessness for both issues as "Company Policy" Moreso when compared to the Hotel Geneve Centre Gare on the other side of the Geneva Main Rail Station which was very welcoming, gave us an early Check Inn at 10.30 am; offered to keep Luggage free of cost for some other Guests who arrived just after us; and the breakfast too was much much better.

I like IBIS hotels a lot, and even have their loyalty card as I am frequently staying at those hotels. On a November 2025 morning, I went to Geneva for business and had this hotel booking for the next night. Instead of carrying my luggage all the way through today, I went to the hotel shortly before lunch to just drop my back, being aware that before lunch, you can’t check in for the next night. At the reception they wanted to charge me CHF 7 for just dropping my bag even though I am a hotel guest for the next night and I do have the loyalty card. I find this a little bit ridiculous and this is a an extreme way to boost ancillary revenues at the expense of loyal guests. In my view a clear no go!

Для отеля сети Ибис (не бюджет) номер был не очень. Кровать небольшая, только 2 подушки, из окна вид на стену. Расположение отеля с одной стороны хорошее - 5 минут пешком до набережной, 5 минут пешком до вокзала центрального. С другой стороны, отель находится в неблагополучном районе, где воняет кальяном и стоят проститутки. Что меня возмутило - в отеле нет камеры хранения багажа. Вернее есть, но она платная, что многое говорит о сервисе. Завтрак нормальный. В общем, очень дорого за отель такого уровня

Geneva is a small city so you can make your way around from this budget hotel. But for families especially, be aware that this is very much a red light district. It was quite shocking on my first night to pull back the curtain in my room and realise I was looking down on a shop window with women for sale. Depressing. That could be problematic for families with kids. Also, we arrived before the room was available and had to put our luggage in paid lockers in the basement. It cost me Euros 16 to store my luggage. That is really cheeky. Didn't like that at all. Breakfast looked awful so we avoided it. Only plus point was that noise wasn't too bad.

In very noisy red light district / no in house car park. In terrible rough area, street littered with prostitutes, and brothels with them sitting in the window. Air conditioning did not work, so we were forced to open window. It was very noisy all through the night of people shouting etc outside. We luckily managed to find an on street parking space, which was free due to a public holiday, otherwise they offered a public car park round the corner. Limited sockets near bed to accommodate my husband’s CPAC sleeping machine. Breakfast just OK, nothing special, continental Loads of places to eat around hotel and just a 10 minute walk to lake Geneva
