Disgraceful Management, Broken Promises, and Complete Disregard for Guests – Avoid This Hotel

I’m writing this review as a fully paying guest, an ALL Platinum member, and someone who has stayed at Accor properties all over the world – and I can confidently say that my experience at Ibis Saigon Airport was one of the worst I have ever encountered. Let me start with this: if you’re considering staying here expecting basic hospitality, cleanliness, and professional service – look elsewhere. Upon arrival, my wife and I were placed in an upgraded room. While this was framed by management as a grand gesture of goodwill, it was in fact part of my Platinum-tier entitlement. That’s where any semblance of a pleasant stay ended. What followed was nothing short of chaos and embarrassment: My wife personally went down to the lobby to request a frying pan and a small amount of oil – standard requests in an “apartment-style” room. Over one hour later, after four staff visits, we were still missing basic items. The final delivery included dirty utensils, and the staff member even questioned why we were asking for more, saying she had “already brought everything.” When I followed up with reception, they referred to my wife as “your friend in the room.” This level of unprofessionalism and casual disrespect is unacceptable – especially after providing her passport at check-in. I ended up cleaning the cooking items myself at 10:30pm, after an hour and fifteen minutes of delays. The frying pan, when it finally arrived, was greasy and unhygienic. After voicing my concerns to the Front Office Manager (Ms. Chau), she acknowledged the poor service and even offered to return the 3,000 points I used to partially pay for the stay. I appreciated the gesture at the time – only to find out, days later, that they had retracted it. Why? Because the hotel had now decided that the room upgrade (which was part of my tier benefits), a couple of drinks, and a complimentary fast-track airport service (which they offered, not me) somehow cancelled out their own failed service delivery. To justify this, the General Manager emailed me a list of “extras” they believed I had received – including keeping the rooftop bar open until 1AM (which I never used) and listing down costs of “compensations” that were never offered in lieu of the points. It felt less like customer care and more like a petty financial audit – one that insulted my intelligence and completely ignored the initial reason I complained. Rather than owning the mistake and honoring their word, the management team decided to weaponize “service gestures” retroactively, blaming the guest for accepting what they themselves had voluntarily offered. The tone of the final email was particularly galling: rather than taking accountability, it leaned on emotional appeals like “we are hurt that you are disappointed because we gave you our best.” I'm sorry – “our best” should not result in dirty cookware, delayed service, disrespectful language, and broken promises. This is not hospitality. This is damage control disguised as professionalism. I left this hotel not just disappointed, but staggered by the arrogance of the management team – especially the General Manager – who preferred to highlight their own perceived generosity rather than listen to a guest who was clearly let down. I’ve stayed in budget hotels with better service ethics than what I experienced at Ibis Saigon Airport. I will never return, and I urge future guests to think very carefully before booking. There are plenty of other hotels near the airport where respect, efficiency, and actual hospitality still mean something.

Beware the 'Free Shuttle- arriving and leaving !

Picked this hotel as we wanted somewhere close to Saigon Airport as we had just flown in and were flying out the next day. Best advice is ignore the 'free shuttle' and just jump in a cab to take you there (its too difficult and busy to walk to) The free shuttle guy was there but wanted to wait for about 3 different flights to arrive before driving us the 5 mins to the hotel !! it was nearly midnight and this added an hour on to us getting to bed. Next we had booked the 'free' shuttle & seater the next morning at 10am for 5 of us plus luggage. We got down in plenty of time and saw the shuttle outside which by now was full of aircrew leaving the hotel Not enough room for all of us !! We spoke to manager who told us he would call a local taxi which he did indicating the hotel would pick up the bill for the taxi (which they didn't !!) the taxi driver expected us to pay when we got to the airport which of course we did......... very very poor service from staff at the hotel. Spoilt what was otherwise a cheap, handy and clean roomed hotel.

Please kindly note that our complimentary airport shuttle operates on a first come, first served basis and can occasionally reach its capacity, especially during peak travel times. On the morning of your departure, although the 11:00 AM trip was not fully booked, we had enough seats for your party but due to the large number of suitcases you had, unfortunately, the shuttle could not accommodate all of them. Our Supervisor offered to call a taxi on your behalf and Mr. Tien from our team assisted with loading your luggage into the car. The taxi fee has been covered by the hotel and we are surprised you had to pay it again upon arrival at the airport. We are investigating on this issue with our taxi partner as it is the first time we are facing this situation . We really regret this incident and kindly contact us back should you need a refund. We value your feedback as it helps us improve our service and coordination with third-party providers. Convenient, comfortable and great value

We had an overnight stay as no connecting flights, so stayed at the IBIS. Hotel is about 10 mins interesting taxi ride to the hotel, about $15AUD, but worth it as it’s too difficult to walk. Hotel is great for a night or two. Rooms are small but comfortable and clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is ample and covers all the main foods you want at Brekky. There is a great rooftop bar/restaurant and pool where can get a great view of the city and watch the planes come and go. Overall a great stay for a short period.

Great location close to the airport and an efficient two way transfer process. We only stayed for a night before flying out the next morning so this hotel was very convenient and cost effective. The rooms are relatively small but they were modern, clean and comfortable. There is a Starbucks on the ground floor so you can get your morning coffee fix. We would stay here again.
