I had a genuinely positive experience during my 3-night stay at the Mercure Edinburgh Haymarket. After reading a few negative reviews beforehand, I wasn’t sure what to expect — but my stay was excellent from start to finish. Clean, comfortable, accessible, and supported by a great team. I would happily stay here again. 🛏️ Room (Room 102) Clean, comfortable and well maintained Bed was very comfortable — slept well every night No noise issues at all, both inside and outside the hotel Accessibility in Room 102 was excellent Wi-Fi worked fine for everyday use Overall, a quiet and comfortable space to relax in 🚿 Bathroom Spotless on arrival and kept clean throughout Towels changed daily Good water pressure and temperature Exactly what you want from a hotel bathroom — simple, clean and functional 👩‍💼 Service & Staff Exceptional customer service — staff were consistently helpful and went above and beyond Check-in was smooth and efficient Check-out was seamless The hotel stored my suitcase after checkout, which made exploring the city much easier Staff created a welcoming and supportive environment from start to finish 🍽️ Breakfast Good selection of options Food was fresh, hot and regularly topped up Dining area was clean and well managed 📍 Location Perfect location for sightseeing and exploring the city Easy walking distance to key attractions, restaurants and transport links Ideal base for a city break 💷 Value for Money Great value for the quality of service, comfort and convenience Would definitely consider it again for future trips to Edinburgh ✔ Final Thoughts I highly recommend the Mercure Edinburgh Haymarket for solo travellers, families and work trips. The service, cleanliness, accessibility and comfort made it an excellent choice for my stay — and I genuinely don’t recognise the negative reviews I’d seen beforehand. My experience was extremely positive.

Need not be a bad hotel but we hated it. Two floors of rooms are below ground level. Ours was one of them. Our view at the door was of dirty laundry and our view at the window was of a subterranean stone wall. The room was tiny. My wife and I had no room to maneuver and there was room to have only one suitcase open at a time. The hotel staff were unimpressed with our request for another room. The other big complaint was the food. Breakfast was identical every day, and two days the hotel was filled with tour groups that swamped the personnel. 45 minutes to be seated. Was booked in for four nights and suffered through it. Last night in Edinburgh we stayed at a Hampton about a block away. Much nicer and larger room, food better, service quality far greater. Several nicer hotels in the area. We will never stay in a Mercure again.

Ignore the bad reviews of this hotel as we had an excellent stay. The staff on reception were very friendly and when we checked in they upgraded us straight away. We had booked a comfort room and they gave a privilege room which had a coffee machine fridge robe and slippers. The very nice lady when asked a few days later why we were upgraded she said it was just a random thing they do. It can be a bit noisey with traffic as we were at the front but it’s not excessive as the hotel is not on the main road. I wear earplugs anyway and couldn’t hear anything. Bed is comfy, shower is good with shampoo conditioner and body wash. Hairdryer worked Our room was cleaned every day with clean towels they replenished the tea and coffee also when asked on reception. My husband wakes up early and he was allowed free coffee they just said help yourself. Even though we hadn’t paid for breakfast so can’t comment on that but looked good with lots on offer Would definitely recommend as it’s not far from the city centre to walk to

I stayed here in April for my partners 40th and I would not recommend the Mercure Edinburgh Haymarket. Our stay was deeply disappointing and far below the standard of a 4-star hotel. We were not told that the Wi-Fi and internal phones had been out of service for weeks, which left us with roaming charges and constant trips to reception just to request basic services. Room service stopped at 9 PM, despite the hotel’s own information saying otherwise. The hot breakfast was inedible, with rubbery sausages and eggs covered in a film. To make matters worse, no manager was available when I tried to raise these issues in person. After leaving a formal complaint, I had to follow up repeatedly just to get a response. When management finally replied, they refused a refund, offered only a token discount on a future stay, and completely failed to take responsibility for not delivering the services advertised. Overall, poor service, poor food, misleading information, and dismissive management. Absolutely not worth the price.

manager is terrible, shambles in fact, no customer service skills at all, so don't bother complaining about anything

hotel very nice, and very well located, and must say staff in the breakfast hall superb, but after asking the receptionist if they hotel had a car park three days before arrival to be told yes we do, the night before we then find out they dont have a car park after getting a message from booking.com to book a car park, after phoning the hotel to complain basically got told we never phoned the hotel we then asked to speak to the manager after explaining the situation he slammed the phone down on us????
