Stop over on a long trip. Late checkin went smoothly. The late check in went smoothly.Staff very helpful, both in the booking/rebooking and rebooking (Covid!) process and also when we arrived snd departed.

We continue to return to the Mercure Charlestown as we always enjoy our stay. The staff is excellent, the room always spotlessly clean. Check in is simple and fast as we are now so well known. The room we always take is very quiet.

Charlestown. Not a real destination in itself perhaps but convenient for travelers or if you cant get accommodation in Newcastle itself, or don't want to pay the exorbitant price of staying in the city! No fly screens on windows so I couldn't access fresh air. Nor was there a screen door on the patio door so having a balcony was rather superfluous. The room was comfortable and clean. I slept well. The only issue I had was there was no lift and i stayed on the 1st floor. I have a bad back. The receptionist offered to take my bag but I felt I couldn't take him from the desk. So many stairs! Other than that it was a short, pleasant experience.

We do have half or our rooms on the ground floor which makes access much easier so calling us directly for your next booking may assist us in finding a room better suited to your needs. Good Location, Friendly Staff and Great Meals

Recently stayed here and chose the location as it was close to things we had planned to do during our stay. The room was spacious and had everything we needed. Staff were very helpful. We ate at the hotel restaurant twice (1 x breakfast and 1 x dinner) and both meals were delicious.

Friendly staff and rooms clean and comfortable. However, the rooms are little bit dull and need refurbishment. Hopefully post Covid influx of tourism will be a motivation to upgrade this place. The hotel is in great location and I believe it can do better with freshened up rooms and extra 10-20 dollars per night.

A very pleasant stay for a couple of nights . Room was clean and spacious . We really enjoyed our breakfasts offered in their restaurant and we also dined for dinner the first evening and all food was very enjoyable. Motel sits in pleasant surroundings and sits centrally to the Charlestown square and Kotara shopping centre .

3 night stay. Staff always friendly and helpful. I always find the hotel really clean and comfortable. Very happy to recommend and will keep staying here when I am in Newcastle.. Food and bar also great.

A nice quiet location that has a lovely restaurant where we enjoyed both Dinner and breakfast. no doubt we will stay again when we next visit Newcastle. Staff were very pleasant and accommodating. Close to Charles town Square shops.

Bed wobbling. Toilet seat broken. Everything dusty. Room stunk! Maintenance person came to fix toilet seat and he was very intoxicated! Bed wobbling complaint totally ignored. No more mercure booking ever

Was an average hotel. Staff were friendly. Rooms were ok, bathrooms very old but clean enough. Bed was very uncomfortable felt is squeaky as you got into bed. Couple stains on carpet. Balcony was nice to have but green mould all over cement floor. Even so called previdge room it was average for Accor. Restaurant food was good as to the service, my only negative was that drinks and coffee at breakfast were extra, I’m platinum and have never had to pay $5 for a coffee at breakfast before.1 bottle of water for all of to share for the 2 nights. No amenity gift.

We stayed one night at Mercure Charlestown. The room was large and airy and the bed comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The onsite restaurant was a real surprise for the evening meal. Innovative offerings and well priced. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and quite good.

There a few things that didn't reflect the Accor brand name. Upon arrival I was a second person in for checkin. The person in front was given a complementary upgrade of room who made didn't seemed even to be an Accor plus member while I been a gold member was told no upgrade as hotel is full. Once I got to the room 217, it had a foul smell with flies in so had to go back to and complain and then moved to room 204. The room was ok but had spider on the curtains, no shampoo only conditioners available. Called reception to ask about bottled water and was told you have to pay. I believe the staff at reception has no value for Accor membership. Told about the removal of spider and was told someone will come and remove that but not one turned up. the reception staff can really make a difference of your stay any any hotel and it is definite that Mercure Charlestown staff are not trained to Accor standard yet.

Excellent service provided during the COVID 19 pandemic. When I have booked in as an Accor member I should not also need to show the Accor membership card in the restaurant to receive the Accor discount.

My daughter was in a freak accident & I wanted to be close to her a JHH. This was the perfect location & all the staff were lovely 😊 They were very welcoming & friendly. After a long day at the hospital it was nice to be able to have a nice meal at Madison’s (my daughter’s name is Maddison!).

At this time, hotels everywhere are being forced to adapt to changes at very short notice. Our experience at Mercure Charlestown was excellent. Booking over the phone was easy, and they made sure we had the room we were looking for. The restaurant is following all proper distancing measures, but with limited tables make sure that you book early. The menu has been simplified but the quality if the food is not diminished. The set price for two or three courses was good value. The food was delicious. Breakfast is now à la carte, and you do need to book. This hotel is ideally located within minutes of the beaches, the city centre, and John Hunter hospital. There is no additional cost for car parking. We look forward to staying here in the future.

Staff are very accommodating for any extra needs we had. Food was fabulous..especially the pork as well as the roast lamb rump. On our last trip the fire alarm woke us up but it was a false alarm after some maintenance,??? Generally nice and quiet.

Great Location with lovely views over the city. The lamb in the restaurant was amazing - most tender we've ever tasted. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent one night stopover. Our bed was warm and comfortable on a cool and chilly night.

A very enjoyable couple of days staying at the Mercure. The room was lovely clean & comfortable, the staff were very pleasant. We had dinner both nights in the restaurant & it was amazing & the breakfast was fabulous. A lovely couple of days .

The staff are wonderful but the Hotel has aged significantly and a lot of Motels are in better condition. The bathroom is old , cracks in the tiles , taps dont turn off smoothly , water stays in the shower , and the sink is very aged. The front door would not open to sit on the balcony and the air conditioning unit had only one setting. Every time we tried to adjust it simply shut itself off. The location is good , staff very good , but Hotel condition is not up to the normal Mercure standard.

Check in went ok however did not receive my standard room upgrade being Accor Gold. Found out from other staff that Hotel wasn’t full so should have received one? However main issue was the putrid and musty smell that greeted us upon entry. As we arrived in the afternoon and were leaving at 0430 the next morning we didn’t bother complaining. The bar and restaurant looked ok however we chose to eat out. In a nutshell not a fan of this Accor propert and won’t return.
