An absolute disgrace

I can see people have had good experiences here, however mine was atrocious. From the moment I got there at 8pm on a Thursday night I had nothing but stressful issues. From waiting in the lobby for over 40 minutes for a bottle of wine, unable to access the restaurant due to private function. Staff have mastered ignoring guests. To then be charged for room service on my bill which I’d already disputed. A flooded bathroom from the shower and having to demand a different room. Witnessing a staff member pick up a spoon off the floor and placed back into the clean spoon tray. Overcharges from my bank account. Been trying to have this sorted for over 2 weeks and still waiting. Absolutely disgusting. If I could give a minus star review I would.

Unpleasant hotel visit.

Unfortunately, it is one of the worst hotels that we have ever stayed in. It took over 30 minutes to check in even though we had made a reservation. The staff whispered, which made it hard to hear them. They had enormous trouble processing credit card. Finally worked but they were totally out of their depth. Room was not ready as promised. Bag not delivered as promised. Bathroom sink cracked, chipped paint, broken door on refrigerator. Check out next morning also inept. Tried to overcharge us for parking. Very frustrating experience.

I'm surprised that this property meets the regulation standards for hotels. Rust in the bathroom, malfunctioning air-conditioning, unpleasant odour in the rooms. Overall, the feeling of rooms being unhygienic is the sentiment I left with. One or two select staff members assisted where they could, but there is not much that can be done when the hotel has multiple structural defects. Other than a complete renovation of the hotel structurally, i.e. a complete refit rather than superficial face lift, this property will always have issues. There are numerous other problems but they pale in comparison to the accommodation facilities being far from adequate.

Great Experience and Stay at Brisbane!

Our stay at Mercure Brisbane King George was excellent! The location of the hotel is perfect and very close to the downtown areas, train stations, bus stops and right opposite the shopping streets. It is walkable from the Brisbane bridge, kangaroo point and the ferry stops as well. The hotel accommodated an early check-in for us, which was very helpful. The rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel staff are very polite and helpful. Definitely recommend staying at this hotel if you are visiting Brisbane.
