World class location, great resort needing a little love

Wow I had a read of other reviews from the Xmas period we stayed, they are certainly scathing. That said, I haven't let them influence my review below. - World class location without doubt. - In summer there are flys, lots of them. For most Australian's they're not a huge issue, however we were with a large group from Canada who found them challenging. No visible evidence of the resort trying to manage the fly issue. - As with regional hospitality all around Australia, sourcing quality staff is hard and this resort is no different. It appeared over half the staff were from the pacific islands, I felt like I was in Fiji! That said, they tried hard and were very nice while appearing to be somewhat short of training + obviously no local knowledge. - The resort is nice, however having stayed numerous times over 20+ years, it is hasn't changed and is looking somewhat tired and needs some work. Particularly the case with the splintering walk-way down to the beach; make sure you wear shoes!, we have a family member still extracting splinters from her feet 2 weeks after leaving! - Breakfast was solid without being outstanding. Given what we paid for rooms, it still grinds me that they charge extra for a coffee that costs them 70c to make. - We have a 3 bedroom place which is actually a 2 bedroom + 1 bedroom with a door linking the rooms unlocked, it worked well. Room kitchens, laundry etc. are good. - No sign of a resort manager introducing themselves and chatting with guests unfortuantely - Pricing: yep it's not cheap and should probably be better for a Pullman and at the prices they are charging. Is fortunate to have no similar competition in the region.

Second here now. First was 7 years ago. Beautiful spot right on the beach. Lovely food and staff. Wifi was down for the whole stay which was a little annoying. Surprised how firm the mattresses were considering it’s a 5 star resort and a few other items showing their age in the accomodation buildings. Very clean though so really just a bit of an update needed in the accomodation buildings
