Unique, Rustic and informative stay.

Our stay was over five nights in a king room that had a king comfortable bed, an attached small room that contained a mini bar fridge and desk. The ensuite was large and shower was great. The stay could be best described as rustic and unique with a very interesting history of early Australia and how the quarantine station was very important over a 100 years. The early indications were that there were ghost evident and we must admit on one night there were strange sounds in our room, I guess we got our monies worth :-). Our car with numerous others were parked at the front gate as there were no access for private vehicles. Shuttle buses were excellent in moving people around and we took advantage of the afternoon shuttle down to Manly to experience the sunset and restaurants'. Hint: The Bavarian restaurant has a 3 hour discounted drinks with large steins of beer, spirits and wine included. An informal restaurant onsite for dinner would be great, however if you can afford it the formal restaurant near the jetty is excellent. The only con we had was the numerous people attending workshops and team building. We enjoyed an afternoon of sitting on the old-fashioned verandah with a wine overlooking the Manly harbor, however on one occasion the company people doing team building was a bit off-putting, with the screaming and yelling. Otherwise, we enjoyed out stay, the guided historical walk was excellent and walks outside the complex up to North-Head are worthwhile, however watch for snakes in bushy areas. Don't forget to visit the Historical cemetery and take some time to walk amongst the graves.

Very disappointed

We stayed for 2 nights last year. The ' ocean view delux' room was not ocean view. The room does not have screens, we hardly slept due to mosquito attack. It was in autumn time. This place is really good IF you really have to quarantine or need to be away from day to day life, just read in rooms etc. Hard to go to grab food in Manly as you're not allowed to bring your car. Theres no microwave in the room. Whole place reminded me of scout camp cabin ( only the reception area was nice and updated). If you pay that much money, I don't see,any positives staying there unfortunately.

Cleanliness

The cleanliness of Q Station is seriously questionable. During my visit, I noticed cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, dirty utensils on the tables, and an overall unkempt appearance. This neglect towards cleanliness is simply unacceptable.

views to die for, so much potential

Ok, there is a lot to unpack here. We came for my Mum's 70th birthday, she has always wanted to come here and it was her dream. If she was writing this review, I think she would have listed it as 4 stars, rather than 3. For me, let's list it all and be really honest. First off, the stuff I loved. Price is very reasonable, we had 3 adults and 3 teenagers, accommodation for one Saturday night was just under $600 and included breakfast. The rooms were lovely, and the surrounds and views to die for. It was a bit tight with one bathroom and a glorified kitchenette. The area is truly extraordinary. The views of the extended harbour and surrounds, gorgeous national park, lovely well manicured lawned areas. Truly amazing. The dinner at the boilerhouse was awesome and I do mean awesome. We loved the food, server, matching wines and everything in between. Amazing. For the not so good... You need to park at the top and can't drive your belongings near your accommodation. This would be ok, if the hotel would bring the luggage to your room, but they won't . You must drag it yourself via the shuttle buses. Our room wasn't ready, they said that we couldn't drop our bags near the room, or if we dropped our bags at reception, no one would bring them to the room, we would need to catch the shuttle, back up the hill, collect it and return. Even though check in time is 2pm and they were late... As we had a tour booked at 3pm, I said, what if we took our luggage to the tour Centre, left it there and got the key after, they said, ok. We needed a bite to eat and decided with the only option, the cafe near the wharf, that is where we would stop. The cafe was half closed (2pm), food was spare, and expensive. Coffee was terrible. Such a shame, anyway we wait for the tour. the Museum is small, but free and you can use 5 mins whilst waiting the waves. Our guide was great if you ask my Mum, not so great if you ask me, my partner or the kids. Maybe it was a generational thing, anyway, the tour made my Mum very happy and we rang for the shuttle and went back to the room. Breakfast the next day, we called the shuttle bus as the views restaurant was miles away from our room, 25 mins later, it hadn't showed up, we called again and it arrived. The views breakfast restaurant was so busy, and so noisy. Selection was normal and ok, but quality not great, every other item was not up to par. I'm so torn about this place. The scenery, atmosphere and potential are literally out of this world, the service, not great. Some service lovely (shuttle bus drivers truly lovely), just over worked. Couldn't check in in time, waited for shuttles a lot sometimes, this really takes away from the experience, whilst we loved the food at the Boilerhouse, it is dinner only, the cafe and breakfast restaurant were subpar. The breakfast 3 stars, the cafe 1. One toilet for 6 people staying together... I wish I could rank it higher, and in the future I may

restaurante excelente!
