From the website it was pretty hard to know what to expect. I booked on my own for 4 nights to get some affordable and easy to get to RnR out of the city. Breakfast is well catered for but if you book here please be advised there is NO food onsite after 5pm M-T and only a set menu starting at $75 on W-T. It would have been really good to have been told this when I checked in and that Uber Eats was an option as in Tuesday night I was very angry when I worked out I was going to have to go to Manly to eat. The location was fantastic and the staff were great with the day to day. However they made a balls up of my payment (took it from the wrong card) and even 4 days of me telling them it was urgent as of writing this review it still hasn't been dealt with and the same excuse was given on check-out as it was when I raised it to them. The room was comfortable, the bathroom was good. The toilet not so much, but was manageable. There was places to hang clothes but no-where to put underwear and socks etc. The site is a little run-down but charming. They are hugely missing a trick by not having bicycles or scooters available to rent on site especially with the access to the beach being a huge set of stairs or a steep road. It also would be good to use electric vehicles for shuttling around days the engines are loud in the bush. If they sorted their act out regarding amenities and food I would stay here again. It was hard to work out what their target market actually was, but I don’t think people wanting a chilled mid-week break from the city was it.

AVOID DURING PUBLIC EVENTS AND ON WEEKENDS

Accor - Q Station Sydney Harbour National Park, stayed for 4 nights, historically significance and only a few minutes away for entertainment, nightlife and iconic Manly Beach. It is a wonderful place to stay, relax and enjoy the best of what Sydney has to offer - truly a sanctuary amidst the chaos of the city. The property is heritage listed therefore some dispensations must be allowed for i.e. the property is not brand new, the setting is in a national part and heritage listed therefore the rooms are not noise proof, we have to share common verandas and walkways approx. 2 rooms per side. On our first night we enjoyed the ambiance of the Boilerhouse, our room was excellent and the view perfect, our neighbours were most respectful and despite being woken up two mornings in a row once at 530am as they chattered. Despite this, our mornings have been exceptional with a fabulous breakfast at the View Restaurant. Spending the day at the picture-perfect Quarantine Beach, meeting other guests, and in the evening going to the adults only ghost tour. The courtesy bus do regular drop offs into Manly. Up till this point the staff from housekeeping, hospitality, to our lovely courtesy drivers and reception staff (sometimes the same person they wear many different hats) conducted themselves with exceptional professionalism. Today (5 Oct) we went to Sydney for the day and returned at approx. 2pm only to find the entire deck and our outdoor furniture plus other bits of random furniture like bar stools had been collected and placed on one end of the veranda. I wish I could say that some apparition had been responsible but alas this was not the case. As I heard and observed a large group of people gathered on the adjacent building, music blaring, singing extremely loudly as they were highly inebriated – the peaceful ambiance we had experienced for the last few days vanished ( I do not know of these were the same people who moved all the furniture in our building). My husband who had left to collect some ice then returned to tell me that he had been stopped by 2 females asking who he was. My husband refused to answer the female and when he came past them on his way back to the room, they again engaged him asking him what Q Station was, what room was he in and why had he chosen to stay onsite. I call reception and was advised that there were several ticketed events, the property is open to the public therefore these types of behaviours should be anticipated, including the loud group but to make sure our room is locked, there were only 3 staff on site (no security), the vastness of the property made it difficult for Accor to manage these issues, she did say she would mention this to the manager. Collecting and re arranged outdoor furniture as best as I could we sat to enjoy the view from our veranda but for the next 3 hours or so the loud music, singing and yelling each time the Manly ferry went past led to us giving up going back in our room to try to get away from the noise. A video of this group was provided to the reception staff. In the morning at breakfast, we met other guest who advised that their elderly mother had been physically grabbed by a male last night and the same male then attempted to enter several hotel rooms. I then observed the same group from yesterday cat calling a young child approx. 5 years old , she turned and faced the wall as she attempted to walk past this group. Our booking is priced at over $400 per night, to avoid this group and adhering to the advice of reception staff we cancel our reservations at the Boilerhouse and stayed in our room for the remaining nights.

Good for tourists + staycation

This is my second stay at this property, albeit 12 years apart. Being school holidays, Sydney hotel prices were eye watering and the Q Station offered reasonable rates mid week. I was travelling solo for business this time and wouldn’t stay again unless for leisure. I was upgraded to a suite which was generous, however it was a decent walk from the building to reception where you need to leave your car. I’d have preferred to walk but I wasn’t in suitable attire and the map provided could be updated making it easier to read and add more signs around the property. In saying that, there was an umbrella in the room and it was never too long to wait for the shuttle. The room was very sparse, no scatter cushions on the uncomfortable sofa, a bare coffee table that looked out of place, with the decor it looked like I was in quarantine rather than a hotel. No extra plates or cutlery provided in the room which you are forced to order from offsite as the restaurant isn’t open every night and when they are, it’s a 2-3 course set menu, no other options on the property for dinner. First night I ordered delivery and since the offsite restaurant didn’t pack the requested cutlery, I needed to eat with the two supplied teaspoons in the room. I cleaned up as best I could, but housekeeping did very little the following day and hadn’t wiped the desk properly and left used cups etc. The bathroom is spotless however, with no mouldy grout whatsoever. The bed was too soft / needs replacing and the tv intermittently lost the picture and went to black whilst still hearing the sound. Leisure guests probably wouldn’t even turn it on. All staff that I came in contact with were great and a highlight of the property.

DO NOT BOOK ON WEEKENDS AND WHEN PUBLIC EVENTS ARE SCHEDULED ON SITE

Q Station is a wonderful place to stay, relax and enjoy the best of what Sydney has to offer - it truly is a sanctuary amidst the chaos of the city. With exceptional with a fabulous breakfast at the View Restaurant. A day at the picture-perfect Quarantine Beach, we met other guests, went to the adults only ghost tour, enjoyed the courtesy bus drop offs into Manly. We felt thrilled to be staying at Accor Q Station. Up till this point the staff from housekeeping, hospitality, to our lovely courtesy drivers and reception staff (sometimes the same person they wear many different hats) conducted themselves with exceptional professionalism. Cost for the suite was over $400 a night and on our third night there were highly inebriated people everywhere screaming and yelling, husband got pulled up by two females questioning who he was, what room he was staying in and why he was staying her, another guests elderly mother got grabbed and the same male was then trying to get into hotel rooms, children (under 5) were cat called. Called reception was told this is expected due to several ticketed events, the property is open to the public therefore these types of behaviours should be anticipated, including the loud groups but to make sure our room is locked, there were only 3 staff on site (no security), the vastness of the property made it difficult for Accor to manage these issues, she did say she would mention this to the manager. On Saturday morning large group of mature individuals and male (think he slept in the bushes) still inebriated were at breakfast group still cat calling at young child and male still trying to get into the wrong rooms! Spoke to duty manager on Saturday (AM) showed her the video footage and they were also checking the cctv cameras when we gave them exact locations affirms the activities we saw and reported. So from Friday to Sunday we did exactly what initial reception staff told us and from 430p onwards we stayed in our room cancelling our dinner plans at the Boilerhouse.
