No after dinner drinks

Nice hotel and bar but it closed at 10 pm and there are no options close by. Be prepared to uber if you want an after dinner drink. Lots of other hotel options of similar quality to choose from with more amenities than this one

New hotel

First stay after the hotel had major renovations and they did very well. Got upgraded to a Prestige Suite and it was a perfect spacious room very well decorated and the most comfortable bed we have slept in. On Level 5 there used to be an outdoor area that was quite bland but has now been turned into the Wentworth Bar that is undercover but with open air spaces as well, a nice comfortable area to have a drink or meal. Our time in Club Millesime was made even more enjoyable by the lovely Sudi who was always friendly and smiling. Have booked to stay again and may try the restaurants but was put off this time by the included Gratuity tax which they say you can decline but I found it just rude to be there at all. If the service and food is good I have always left a tip.

Sofitel equals luxury

From the moment I walked into this hotel I was impressed. There are very few luxury hotels who get their service right: that perfect mix of friendliness and courtesy. The Sofitel does. Their staff are a delight: dropping a bag, check in, check out: I felt very much like a welcome and valued guest. The hotel was immaculate and obviously very well cared for. It was about a 20 minute drive from the airport. It also nails the 'moody elegant European" vibe that some hotels struggle with: some of them end up dark and badly lit - but the Sofitel got it right. You could be in any country in Europe, it's very well done. The rooms are big enough to relax, and my room had a shower over a very deep bath - lovely. Everything worked perfectly, and I loved the sensor lights under the bedside tables, particularly because I had drawn the block out curtains. The bathroom was immaculate, and the towels and bed linen had that lovely very faint smell of bleach, so faint it's barely there, but enough to be reassured that everything was super clean. I didn't use the mini bar or the coffee, but there was a pod machine and two (good) bottles of gin plus normal mini bar delights. There is a makeup mirror - a really good one - and ample lighting in the bathroom (see earlier comments about moody decor). There is also plenty of room to hang up dresses/clothes. I've saved the best till last - the bed. The lady at check in told me they have the best beds and she absolutely was not exaggerating. Soft but not squishy, and just so comfortable - one of those beds when you feel like you are just supported but can't really feel anything. And a proper duvet/doona and a ton of pillows. I was very happy. We had a function at the hotel and the food was brilliant as well. All in all, I'm sad I only stayed one night: I'd love to spend a week there. If yoúre thinking about booking, definitely do it.

Sofitel never disappoints me. This is my fifth stay at a different Sofitel hotel, and each one has always met my expectations. Honestly, if this hotel had a pool, it would be one of the top three hotels in Sydney for me. But even without a pool, I still give it a 5-star rating
