Relaxing stay at Sails

Our stay at Sails in the Desert was great. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable and the resort facilities were plenty. The beds were just right, and the bathroom was spacious with lots of towels! Amenities were shampoo, conditioner and body wash as well as body/hand cream. All were made with native ingredients and smelled terrific. The room was fairly quiet - didn't really hear our neighbours. The view of Uluru was a welcome surprise. The resort is quite big and room 270 was a fair walk from reception, but it was flat and very manageable.

Arriving was welcoming. Or room was 3rd floor over looking garden and pool. Our room was lovely nice furnishings. 2 queen beds lovely linen. Bathroom spacious lovely products. Room was very clean and serviced every day. There was laundry on 2nd floor which was free. The grounds very well kept. We loved our 3 night stay.

Wonderful resort. Unfortunately, we only stayed one night. Would have loved more time here. Room was comfortable and clean; grounds were lovely and well-maintained. Enjoyed walking around the community and picked up a few snacks at the grocery store. Most of our time was devoted to the tours to Uluru so we weren’t able to take advantage of the pool or other amenities.

Wonderful resort right next to Uluru

This resort was absolutely fantastic. The room was big, the bathroom had a great shower, and the attached porch was a wonderful place to lounge and eat. Hallways are open air so you can step out and watch the rabbits bounding around the gorgeous desert scenery right away. The breakfast buffet was the stuff dreams are made of. A dizzying array of all manner of veg and meat options are spread out, and omelettes and pancakes can be made to order at a central counter. We enjoyed the free bus that ran throughout the day that takes you to "town" with a grocery and other shops, the camel tour farm, and other spots in this complex of hotels. Even the main lobby was adorable with clean, modern design, a cute gift shop, and the best funky jazzy electronic music playing in the background. My one complaint would be the spa. I tried to book a massage, and it was impossible to do so. The spa was randomly closed on Tuesday, and the sign on the front door said you could only book appointments by calling a phone number, and I didn't have a working phone in Australia. Nowhere posted hours and the front desk said they couldn't book appointments. One morning I found the door unlocked and I walked in to wait and see if I could make an appointment. The woman who appeared was a bit rude and said she was booked up for the next two days. Since we were leaving that next day, a massage was a no. This is a small complaint for an otherwise wonderful place, but thought I would pass my experience along!

The best place to stay for Uluru

Overall I would say that Sailsnin the Desert is the best place to stay when visiting Uluru. There are four other choices that just don’t seem as nice as Sails in the Desert. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is laundry on property and you are able to walk to the entire town and several different dining options. The rooms were very nice and we had a full size balcony which was very nice during the day to lay out and just relax. The pool was nice and not very crowded as many people are going on tours You will not be disappointed at all
