Sails in the Desert - A member of Pullman Hotels 5성

As my mum said it was the only place to stay. It was the perfect place to stay for our girls trip . Just mum and I . We had a great spacious room with two double beds a large bathroom and we did not feel as we were crowding each other. Our room was on the ground floor with a short walk to the pool and restaurants. The grounds are lovely and green The staff were friendly and accommodating. My mum has been wanting to stay at sails for years and it did not disappoint. We enjoyed laying by the pool the only thing I would suggest is a rail for people to hang onto when entering and exiting the pool if they are unsure or nervous getting in as I witnessed a few people having issues. Sails is only a short walk to the town centre which was great as we walked to have breakfast and dinner. We also hired a car and found parking in the car park. I would certainly stay at Sails in the desert again. I would certainly stay at Sails

By no means is this a 5 star hotel, however, I found it much more pleasant than I thought would after reading the reviews. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom was lovely with a very good shower. The bed was comfortable and I had no problem with any bugs apart from a couple of small ants which is to be expected due to location and being on the ground floor. The location of being right next to the town centre is also great. Service was all very friendly too. Cons: overpriced food in the restaurants, go to Geckos Cafe in the town centre instead, great food and price. No water in the rooms, considering it was 43c I thought this was pretty poor. Rooms are outdated and need a deep clean. They are surface level clean but the edges were all pretty dusty.

We stayed here for 2 nights during our visit to the Red Centre. The room was spacious and clean. It would benefit from a fresh lick of paint at some point but otherwise we could not fault the place or the hotel staff who were friendly and efficient. We didn’t really have enough time to use the pool during our stay (too busy sight seeing) but it looked really nice. Breakfast buffet was excellent if not a little ‘pricey’ but there was plenty to choose from and we loaded up ahead of our long drive to Alice! The town square in the resort, with shops and eateries is just a 2 minute walk from the hotel. It is also a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest viewing point for the Uluru sunrise / sunset which was really convenient. Excellent location. The only real ‘negative’ during our stay was the fire alarm which went off without explanation one evening and we had the pleasure of an evacuation and the arrival of a fire engine on site. Thankfully it was a false alarm and the evacuation, which took place at a reasonable hour was professionally handled by the staff on duty. We will recommend this hotel to our friends who are planning a similar trip to ours this year.

At the Ayer's Rock Resort, Sails is definitely the nicest hotel. Things at the resort are a bit rustic, though, so do not expect the Ritz. Breakfast buffet was the best we had in all of Australia. Staff is friendly and pretty helpful as well. The room was clean, but the hand/body soap dispenser in the tub and at the sink were both empty. Front desk brought us new ones within a few minutes of our request. The grounds are nice, and the pool is large; there is shade around but most of the loungers are in full sun...and it gets hot. The "bar" at the pool was substandard; only one person working who seemed to get drink recipes off an app. Drink quality was inconsistent. The actual room was spacious. We had one of the rooms with the large terrace and it was great for sitting out in the evening/night when the temperature dropped. The resort is pretty compact so it is easy to get to other restaurants and shops. Only a few minutes walk to the grocery store. I'd recommend this place, but do not expect a five-star experience.

The service at the hotel is extremely poor. From the start it was obvious that the staff do not prioritise time management - the entire experience was very slow… On arrival, we queued twice to check-in, once for twenty minutes, and then once again for another twenty minutes to collect our key when the room was ready. Considering the wait it still took an hour for our luggage to get to our room once we’d got in. The ‘cleaning’ of the hotel rooms is extremely poor. I would say the extent of the clean is making the bed and replacing the towels - the bathroom floor was sticky on arrival, toilet roll was only replaced if you called reception and empties were not tidied away. The room was also cleaned very late in the day. The waiting staff in restaurants were in no rush at all. We had to ask on multiple occasions to order a drink, receive a drink and often had started eating before being served our first drink. Other than Cindy and a few of the lovely ladies, most of the staff, in particular those on reception, were incredibly unhelpful and rude. Aside from this, the hotel is very outdated and not well kept. The pool isn’t very clean and the lining is coming away. The poolside dining area isn’t tended too much, so often plates of food are left for the flies to get. No one collects the room service plates either; I walked past multiple rooms where plates were left out in the sun all day. The room was very basic and there wasn’t even a bottle of water in the fridge which considering the heat isn’t something that the hotel should overlook. It was a real shame as we had this trip booked for a long time, to celebrate a birthday, and the experience did not reflect the cost of the trip.
