A little disappointing. On arrival, I was handed the room key by the receptionist - without a smile or welcome, no acknowledgement that I am a silver member, I was not offered my welcome drink. FYI - I think this is a scam by Accor because I have NEVER been offered a welcome drink!!! I was not aware it is actually a collection of mini hotels around the village. We were not in the main hotel. Someone did show us the way (he was lovely)- it was only a few minutes walk around a few streets but in the rain, cold and dark it is not ideal. As we entered our 'hotel' it felt rather bleak and abandoned. You are not given a map showing where your 'hotel' is in relation to the main building so we got lost trying to find it again! There was nothing in our block - no-one on the front desk, no concierge etc. You feel like you are in one of those budget hotels where you check in with a machine and never actually receive service from a person. The floor in our hotel was permanently wet and slippy because of people coming in with wet umbrellas but no-one is there to fix the issue. There were kids running around the place screaming in the evening but again there is no reception to call! When you go to breakfast you have to put your coats on etc and it doesn't feel like you are in a hotel. ONLY stay here if you can be sure you will be in the main building otherwise it is horrid. I think they should be clearer that you are NOT actually staying in a hotel building with a reception, bar, restaurant etc. There were no facilities in our 'hotel'. The room was cold - the aircon is centrally controlled so we had to just plug the heater in and turn it up. This is a shocking policy in terms of environmental impact. When it is 16 degrees centigrade outside, the aircon should not be set to 19! The toilet and shower have those glass doors, although you can't see through them but when you have teenagers, this doesn't really give them the privacy they might like while showering. There is nowhere in the overall hotel for basic dining in the evening. There is a French restaurant that is very expensive and we were told is only really for adults (which is fine!) but there is nowhere else for families! The buffet is ridiculously priced - it would have been nearly 4million Dong to eat there and we were not that hungry to justify that sort of spending. My tiny 12 year old would have counted as an adult - he would never eat close to 1 million dong of food!!! When we walked past the restaurant the buffet was empty - I wonder why? Perhaps you need to be more family orientated and think of a family's budget!! Anyway we ordered room service - possibly the worst room service food I have ever eaten and you had to pay for it when ordered. Nice that they don't trust you to pay when you check out! If the weather had been good then maybe staying in a different hotel would have been ok - I don't know. Anyway, I wouldn't stay again here. I would rather just come up early and leave the same day. The hotel is in such a magical setting - I don't know why they have got this so wrong. A positive shout out to all the porters/guides who showed us up/down from the cable cars. They were superb guys and provided the only good service and smiley faces we received during our stay. Reception, restaurant, room service staff all need to learn from these guys how to treat your guests. They were literally the only ones smiling and yet they were the ones who had to go out in the cold/rain - well done to them! They showed interest in who we were and that our experience was a good one. They were stand out compared to everyone else in this hotel. Everyone else - you can do better.

To be fair the weather was absolutely awful when we were there but there are still flaws with this hotel. Firstly, the good things. The guides who met us to guide us up through the cable cars etc were lovely. Based on these two guides I thought we were in for an amazing stay but unfortunately no other staff in the hotel came close to being as friendly as them! The room was fine- it has a heater which was much needed . Beds were comfortable. However, there were a lot of problems. In the room the shower and toilet only have glass doors so there is very little privacy. Although you can't see through the glass properly, when you have teenage kids this is not a great design. It also means you can hear everyone go to the toilet! Otherwise room is ok. We ordered room service. It was our most expensive meal in Vietnam and also our worst. The pizza tasted like basic frozen pizza. My main issue with the hotel is that we were not in the main hotel. Only stay at this hotel if you are in the main hotel otherwise you have a several minutes walk around to another building. This may not sound too bad but in cold, mist and torrential rain having to walk between the buildings was awful. Apparently there is a pool in the main hotel but we didn't know anything about this and we didn't want to have to walk out in the cold and wet in swimming gear!! Breakfast was ok but everything was over produced and cold. I only really wanted an omelette - there was a huge pile of them but they were cold. Other items, such as fresh bread, were running out and we had to keep asking for new items. The breakfast room itself was cold and the whole thing was just not great. Again, the porter who helped us back to the cable car was lovely. So, basically the only friendly staff you will encounter will be the porters/guides. The food will be average and be prepared for very little privacy in the room.

Very Disappointing Stay at Mercure Ba Na Hills Ba Na Hills itself is a magical and beautiful place to visit, but unfortunately our stay at Mercure Ba Na Hills was extremely disappointing and not worth the high price we paid. First, there are no extra benefits at all for staying at this hotel. Breakfast was very poor for vegetarian and vegan guests. When we asked the staff about vegetarian options, we were told we could only have salad, fruit, bread, and plain rice, while other guests had many hot and varied choices. This is unacceptable when we are paying the same price as everyone else. During our last 10 days in Vietnam, we noticed many Indian and vegetarian travelers, and even at this hotel, around 20% of guests were Indian. Yet the hotel only focuses on Asian (Chinese or Japanese) food, with no consideration for Indian, vegetarian, or vegan diets. In today’s world, many people travel with these dietary preferences, and a hotel of this standard should be prepared. The staff attitude was another major issue. The hotel seems clearly understaffed, and the staff looked tired and uninterested. Check-in felt like a train station—no welcome, no explanation, no hospitality. They just handed over the room and moved on to the next guest. The room quality was also poor: • Power plugs were not working • Hairdryer did not work • No mirror outside the bathroom • Slippers were clearly used by previous guests and reused, which is unhygienic • No information book or guidance about hotel facilities anywhere in the room Overall, despite the big name and large property, the service, cleanliness, food, and guest care are far below expectations. This hotel does not match the Mercure brand standards. I do not recommend staying here. It is not worth the money, and there are no benefits that justify the high cost.
