Good option for a stay in French Saint-Louis or right next to Swiss Basel

คะแนนจาก Tripadvisor 4.0/5

AlbertMIA รีวิวที่ได้รับการรับรองจาก TripAdvisor

I had a 1-week stay at this aparthotel, and overall it was a good experience. The aparthotel is generally in fine condition, well maintained and very clean. Even though it’s basic and without any fanciness, my stay was pretty comfortable. The hotel is located right on the border of Switzerland and France, in the small French town of Saint-Louis. My goal was to visit Basel, so I had to cross the border every day. I never had any problems except on my first day, when border control stopped my Uber from Basel train station to the hotel and asked both me and the driver for documents. After that I always crossed the border on foot – both day and night – and nobody ever stopped me. So if you’re booking this hotel, don’t worry about crossing the border. For Saint-Louis the hotel has a great location – the whole town is walkable. For Basel the location is not bad either: there’s a train stop just two blocks before the border, and from there it’s only about a 10-minute ride to Basel’s city center. Uber also works here – the ride to Basel’s center took around 10 minutes and cost me about €12. A few times I even walked all the way from the aparthotel to the center of Basel (and back), which took about 35 minutes on one straight street. The neighborhood around the hotel is quiet and peaceful, with a few cafes, restaurants, and small grocery stores, but it’s mostly residential. My check-in was fast and easy. A few days before arrival, I had requested a high-floor room on the bright side of the building with lots of natural daylight, and they fulfilled my request. The front desk staff were extremely sweet and friendly; I had little chats with someone almost every day, such nice people! I got a Studio Apartment with a double bed (#502) on the 5th floor. I was very satisfied with the size, its simple but neat design, and how clean it was. The furniture was all in good condition. I really liked the big glass balcony door leading out to a balcony with a pink table and two chairs, from which the views of Saint-Louis were beautiful. Sometimes I just sat outside to chill and enjoy the view. The only issue was that the balcony was shared with the apartment next door and had no divider. Basically, I could walk into my neighbors’ apartment if their balcony door was open, and they could do the same. I found that unsafe. My apartment had a small kitchen with all the essentials, and I appreciated the bigger refrigerator that could fit plenty of things. The double bed was comfortable. The TV was small, outdated, and placed far from the bed. The closet was large and could fit a lot, but the upper shelves were dusty; plus there weren’t many hangers in there. I also wished the mirror next to the bed had been bigger and set lower. The bathroom was very tiny – everything squeezed together. I really disliked the toilet being stuck between the sink and the bathtub, with no space even for a small trash can in between. The bathtub itself was pretty big and deep, which was nice for taking hot baths, but the glass water guard was poorly designed and leaked water onto the floor. The bathroom amenities were average in quality and smelled just okay. The Wi-Fi worked well during my entire stay. Other negatives that bothered me were the small, slow, and crappy-looking elevator. Also, I found it very annoying that the hotel’s front door was always locked, and I had to memorize a 6-digit code to get in, even during the daytime. There’s really no reason for that, since the front desk is right by the entrance and staff can see everyone coming and going. For my 7-night stay I paid €783, which comes to €112 per night. Honestly, I think this rate was overpriced for such a basic-level hotel. But since it was Eurovision week in Basel, the rates were probably higher than usual. I can recommend this aparthotel whether your goal is to stay in Saint-Louis or visit Basel – the distances are easy to manage either way. Just don’t expect a high level of facilities here, as the hotel is very basic. By the way, in my opinion this aparthotel is definitely a great option for families with kids.

Stayed at the “hotel” for meetings in Basel, where hotels were outrageously expensive. The apart hotel is somewhat run down, not super clean, dated. It gets the job done, though, being just across the border between Basel and Saint Louis. Within one minute, you walk across the border, and a minute later you can catch the Basel tram (stop “Grenze”) for easy access to the city. Accessibility is the biggest and only plus of the place. The surroundings looks impoverished and somewhat dilapidated. Practical, no more and no less. Did not try parking, but there is probably free or very free street parking.

Great Service with Murad the Front Desk

I love the stay! It was a tiring travel early in the morning and we were assisted by Murad. The early check in for a Silver Member was a big help because we dont have sleep but the Hotel Staff was nice to accommodate us. The room was quiet and comfy. The lady staff with dark hair was amazing as well As the staff at the breakfast area! This deserves a 5 star! Location is perfect and walkable to Basel!

Very good

We appreciated the room with kitchen. The bedding was very good. The personnel was friendly and we were welcomed with free coffee and lemonade. Basel is really nearby (we walked to the city, it took us 20 to 25 minutes). Perfect to stay a few nights.
