BE AWARE OF SLY PARKING CHARGES. The unhelpful and discourteous manner in this hotel is appalling.

This hotel parking is appalling. First you have to pay for the £7 privilege, then you don't get advised that there is a further rigmarole to go through to ensure that Smart Parking doesn't charge you again! They hit us twice! I got an amazingly poor response from the Front Ofiice manager who implied that mt wife was a liar, and that her staff "always tell customers of the procedures to go through". There wasn't even a hint of help being offered. I am appalled that Mercure, who are usuakky pretty good are happy with this hotel. Looking at the reviews about this, of which there are a few, I expect to get a copy and pasted response which shows the level of contempt for customers that they have here!

No explanation of Hotel facilities upon check-in. Room was ok furniture has seen better days but it was clean. Bathroom small and toilet tight against the wall so not excatly comfortable fixed shower screen and no grab handle doesn't make it easy to get in and out of the bath. Breakfast was just ok nothing special food was Luke warm at best. Breakfast staff could do with some customer focused training. Reception and bar staff very friendly always greeted me with a smile. Would visit again but hotel could do with an upgrade.

Lovely 2 day break

We don't understand why there are so many negative reviews on this hotel. We came for 2 days and were given a massive room on the top floor, which was clean and comfortable. The staff are lovely and dinner and breakfast were delicious. This is our 3rd visit to this hotel and we'll definitely be visiting again.

Disappointed and very antiquated room, plumbing

Very disappointed with the small room: couldn’t shut window after opening for a very hot room, toilet was a nuisance to flush, had to request toilet paper, shower head never worked, internet connection was iffy, and no bedside table. Furnishings were on the “cheap” side. Grew tired of all the requests. Didn’t bother with showering. Very outdated and just not for me. Location was great with access to walkable eateries, shore, and shops, groceries but was not impressed with the fast food offerings atmosphere. Wanted to like Ayr but overall my choice of this hotel didn’t make for a memorable time and for Ayr. . Wasn’t for me and my tastes.

This is the second time I have stayed in the mercure, first time ok . Went down hill asked to check in early as we were going to a wedding. If they have a room available which didn't know till 11am that morning, we would need to pay extra £50. Went back to hotel after wedding people couldn't get luggage room open Next morning breakfast all I can say was dried up . Went to check out girl said that is u everything paid I asked if we could leave car in car park said it would be ok but just put number in just incase as we r were covered till 12pm which is when we checked All of a sudden we had to pay £7 But was clear 5mins earlier Won't be back there again .
