Lovely hotel in a central location

I stayed at the MERCURE on the 27/04/25 as it was my first anniversary since loosing my husband for 2days. Firstly I was greeted at reception by Sara with a lovely smile who made me feel so welcome and who also gave good advice for lunch, check in was efficient and smooth. When I got to my room, yes it was dated but very, dated doesn’t mean a let down I thought it had character, my room was comfortable, clean, and spacious. When I couldn’t get my keyless card to work, a lovely lady called Marta was on hand. Hotel is beautifully situated, central but quiet, great for all my walks. Staff in the restaurant were attentive, very polite and professional. Both breakfast and dinner had a good variety. The stream that flows through the restaurant is such a delight very calming. I would certainly stay again.

Great staff & Location but needs a refresh

The staff on reception in the hotel are friendly and welcoming. People make Glasgow its true! The location is great for all main stations, George Square, Glasgow Green etc very central. The hotel rooms are dated and although clean they just need a lick of paint, carpets, new bathroom etc - Fresher look. There was an iron print on the floor where someone had obviously burnt the carpet and the lights did a lot of flickering. There’s no air con so very warm and if window is open it’s very noisy. The walls are thin! The rooms have basics tea coffee hairdryer safe etc A positive is a lot of things removed to be more sustainable but available at the reception if needed. I would probably stay at Ibis round the corner or Premier Inn next time until this hotel has a bit of refurb.
