If I could give this hotel minus stars, I would. I stayed at this hotel on Friday 12th December while attending a Christmas event in Chester. What occurred during my stay was extremely distressing and has left me feeling unsafe. I left the hotel at approximately 7:30pm. When I returned later that evening, it was clear that someone had entered my room and stolen three designer items (including bags they had seen me arrive with), cash, and my bank cards. My personal belongings had also been removed and emptied across the bed, clearly indicating the room had been searched. When I immediately reported this to the staff member on duty, I was extremely upset and in distress. The response I received was simply “I don’t know how that has happened”. There was no empathy, no reassurance, and no apology. I returned to my room, however no staff member came to check the room, ask questions, or assess the situation. When I asked if I could change rooms due to feeling unsafe, I was told there were no rooms available, with no further support or alternatives offered. At 3am, due to feeling unsafe, I checked myself out of the hotel. During this interaction, I was asked “remind me what room again”, followed by “ok love”. Again, there was no apology, no concern shown, and no reassurance provided. I was later informed by the hotel manager on Tuesday 16th December that my room had been accessed at 19:57 using a Mastercard. I was told they were unsure how this Mastercard was created, while also confirming that staff members are the only individuals who have access to these Mastercards. I was also informed that only three staff members were working that evening. I was further advised that the matter would not be investigated internally due to HR-related reasons, which I found extremely concerning given the seriousness of the incident. Additional safety concerns include: • No CCTV in hotel corridors • Guest room areas can be accessed freely • The incident was not escalated or reported to management the following day • I had to wait until Tuesday 16th December to be informed of the unauthorised room entry This was not a minor inconvenience it was a serious and traumatic breach of guest safety. I am sharing this review purely for awareness and would strongly urge others to think very carefully before staying at this hotel. Guest safety should always come first.

As shared during our earlier conversations, the matter has been reported to and is currently being investigated by the local police, and we are fully cooperating with their enquiries. I do feel it is important to gently clarify that some information previously shared has been taken in the wrong context, and that certain communications directed at members of my team were perceived as serious in nature. For the wellbeing of everyone involved, this is why it is important that the matter continues to be handled through the appropriate channels rather than in a public forum. Since becoming aware of the issue, I have personally reviewed our procedures and ensured precautionary measures have been put in place to help reduce the risk of any future occurrence. We will continue to act in line with guidance provided by the relevant authorities. As mentioned before, I would have preferred to resolve this matter directly and offline, as I do not believe it can be appropriately or fairly addressed via a review platform. This is my second stay at this hotel. I must say that to classify it as 4 star is rather overdoing it's 'splendour'. But I suppose by providing certain amenities this brings it into a 4 star category although there was no fridge in what was basically a 3 star room. See photo. The bathroom was minuscule and to use the toilet I had to squeeze past the door because it's hidden behind the door - again see picture and note the door opening limiter at the top to make sure it doesn't bang against the toilet! Now for the room - it was bare with nothing to make it look as inviting as a 4 star hotel should, as can be seen from the photo. It was room 212 to it's to be avoided at all costs. The bed was comfy though. The bar area is small for the size of the hotel and when I visited there was a Christmas party in flow. This meant a queue at the bar resulting in a 15 minute wait to get served. At first there was only one person on duty behind the bar before a second came along. For my second drink I only had to wait 10 minutes because it was back to only one person on duty. I am a member of the All Accor group and generally I have a lot of praise for their products. But on this occasion they let me down badly. Overall the experience was just about acceptable and I cannot fault the staff for their friendliness. It's just that management need to take a hard look at their staffing rotas.

Regarding the bar experience, your visit coincided with a private Christmas event, which understandably placed additional pressure on service at peak times. Staffing levels are planned based on forecasted demand, though we acknowledge that wait times on this occasion were longer than ideal. The comments back from management on the hotel reviews are shocking. To say room options selected may not be available 1st night of arrival, or room may not be available at check in time due to it being cleaned and made to hotel standard is just ridiculous. Thats such a poor ex. Just appologise and say sorry. If people pay for a particular room or arrive at check in time the room should be available. Its what guests have paid for. If its not then just apologise. Don't try to justify it not being available. We wont return

2 séjours faits dans ce Mercure, et à chaque fois que j'ai voulu prendre une douche, soit il n'y avait pas d'eau chaude, soit, après avoir attendu quelques minutes, l'eau devenait au mieux "tiède". Et j'ai constaté cela sur 2 séjours différents, donc dans au moins 2 chambres différentes.

De 4 sterren rating voor deze Mercure is schandalig. 2 sterren is nog te veel. Ben je niet depressief, in dit hotel wordt je het wel. Het hotel is 2 hoog, ZONDER lift, verwacht ook als 70 plusser geen medewerking van de staff. Wij hadden een kamer onder het platte dak, ZONDER airco, dus snikheet. Er is een waterdruk probleem, dus 's avonds douchen is een armetierig straaltje met warmte en koude momenten. De inrichting van de kamer, en de wellnes ruimtes ::: laat u niet misleiden door de foto's op de site, zijn VERGANE GLORIE. De gangen naar de kamers (2e etage) zijn gedecoreerd met metalen golfplaten, (Hoe verzin je het) gespoten in een trieste creme en bruine kleur, vloerbedekking versleten, Vanwege houten vloeren en dunne wandjes is het geheel extreem gehorig en kan men heerlijk meegenieten van de TV en andere geluiden uit de andere kamers, alsmede aankomende en vertrekkende gasten. De kwaliteit van het diner : koud en smakeloos. Het ontbijt, Slecht !!, bv geen scrambeld eggs, ook werd er na 09.00 niet meer aangevuld, en bleef alles onder de warmte lampen staan te verpieteren.Het continentale ontbijt bestond slechts uit een paar schalen fruit!!!!. De bediening had op alles slechts een antwoord ::: I'am sorry, madam...Falwty Towers is er niets bij!!! Vanwege een vertraagde ferry wilden we het hotel van onze late aankomst op de hoogte stellen, maar door een keuze menu,onbereikbaar. De receptie, bemand door een lusteloos en totaal ongeinterresseerde medewerker, kwam ook niet bepaald gastvrij en adequaat over. Vragen over de slechte kwaliteit van de WIFI werden met belachelijke onkundige antwoorden afgedaan. Pluspunt :: De parkeerplaats en de mooie tuinen en de ligging ten opzichte van het centrum..
