We booked through Secret Escapes for three nights with dinner and breakfast. Dinner menu was a bit limited but the food was excellent although sometimes when the kitchen is busy the wait seems a long time. Breakfast was a substantial buffet although the kitchen staff were able to cater for special needs, if required. We had a garden view room overlooking a wooded area and lake. The view was spectacular as the leaves were still on the trees and the colours so vibrant. Our six foot bed was comfortable and warm. The Cotswolds are within easy driving reach and Gloucester with all its attractions is a mere three miles away. An enjoyable stay and we would not hesitate to book again for another stay.

Do not go if on a coach tour ,your not welcome

We went on a coach trip to Gloucester Quays,stayed overnight in this hotel. The receptionist was very rude when we asked the directions to the rooms, our room although clean ,was adapted for a disabled person.evening meal choice pork or fishamans pie, I don'y like either,rude staff whe asked for an alternative, was offered a plain bowl of pasta !!. I asked if any salad going..and 20mins later, a bowl of salad was slammed infront of me..contained one small cherry tomato ,bits of lettace,some cucumber..tasteless.never porter,used back stairs,coach people are Not Welcome

Great birthday stay

Had a lovely couple of nights away for a friends birthday. We had a pod dinner on one of the evenings and it was brilliant. Lovely and warm, and the staff were amazing! Breakfast both mornings were great, loads of choice. Had some lovely trips out during our stay - lots to do around the area. We’ll be back soon!!

Lovely stay

Stayed for 3 nights and had a lovely break.Top marks to Solveiga on front of house and John and Tina in the restaurant,Solveiga sorted out a room problem which another member was not that concerned.Room 234 has large conifers within touching distance of the window and it has a claustrophobic prison like feel.Replacement room 230 excellent as was the breakfasts and evening meals,Some building work going on but guests comfort was always at the forefront

Beautiful hotel, perfect location, but the staff need extra training. It is unacceptable to have waiters clear the dinner plates from the table while others on the same table are still eating. I shall always remember the Mercure Gloucester Bowden Hall Hotel because of this slip in etiquette - which is a shame.
