Kingfisher Bay Resort Fraser Island bintang 4

The K’gari kingfisher resort has seen better days. It feels due for a refresh. As an ‘eco resort’ the facilities & food options don’t meet expectations. Everything apart from the premium restaurant (Dune) had limited healthy options. Our villa was comfortable but lacked basic amenities (TV didn’t work, kitchen was very basic). Everything we did on the island was terrific (4WD, boat cruise etc). Go for the experiences not the accomodation

The process from arriving at the office to the cabin was seamless. Syaff wrre great. We did have the angriest barge driver ever! He was yelling at everyone over the speakers. We felt like we were at school and he was an angry super strict headmaster very weird start to our stay. We stayed in a cabin. Very comfortable, nice outlook but people were walking all around the cabin it felt like a fish bowl. Easy check in process. Overall the staff there were great. There was one very tizzy reception staff member who got overwhelmed at anything and everything some lady whose badge said she was from Port Macquarie. She made everything uncomfortable and there was a man behind the computer who said he was too busy to help her their interactions felt very uncomfortable. The other re option staff were amazing, especially the lady with short Gray hair she was beautiful, helpful and just lovely. We gave the place 3 stars because of the lack of privacy in the cabins and the food! The food was terrible! We ate at all options. For a resort we were super disappointed. We did not really enjoy a meal while we were there. The parmis at the sand bistro were good but you can't eat those everyday. I would highly recommend the personal ranger tours. That was money well spent. Absolute highlight of our trip. Oh and the coffee was abysmal other than the general store which did not do decaf. The island appeared understaffed. I enjoyed the visit, glad we went but would never go again.

Comfy beds. Sand Bar Restaurant has delicious vegan/dairy free options catering for those of us with dietary restrictions, try the mushroom burger it is amazing! Sunset Bar Sunsets are to be experienced, different every day and to photograph the pier in all the different weather moods was a highlight. We didn't get to do any tours, however, if we could have we would have. Being able to just relax, walk, chill by the pool, go for a swim, enjoy the deck views from our hotel room and relax. There was no real FOMO as there is beauty at the resort. 4 nights was enough though. Dune restaurant and Sand Bar are the best places to eat when staying at the resort. They cater for all dietary needs. If you are dairy free and have dietary restrictions the buffet breakfast is not for us (unless they can improve this side of things) So bring your own breakfast eats and don't pay for breakfast. Don't rely on just fruit being available in the way you like it.

Most of the staff are not friendly Poor food variety and quality, not worth the cost Bed bugs all over our beds, came back home with lots of bed bugs bites, very bad experience Some kids activities were advertised free, but we had to pay for everything even the adult who is supervising the kids.

Brilliant service from Jody at reception! Great day trip with Peter Meyer! BUT 4x4s must be prohibited from driving on beaches - totally unsustainable & unacceptable for a world heritage site. Number of visitors should also be limited as the ambience and tranquility of the island is ruined by visitors not particularly interested or conscious of the sense of place of this unique and sacred island of the indigenous Butchulla people, the traditional owners of this island.
