Lovely hotel, poor room

Hotel was in an excellent location, easy walk from the train station and to the city centre. The street felt safer than other streets nearby so would stay in this area on this street again! The hotel itself had a lovely reception and bar area and helpful and friendly staff. The downside of this hotel was the room. Although very clean, the room was significantly smaller than what I thought I was getting from the images, it was hard to move around the bed and I am a petite woman! If you were larger you would struggle to get through the gap between the bed and the unnecessarily large chair. My partner and I compared the room to an old storage cupboard that the hotel thought they could use to make a room and get some extra money, we even questioned if it was meant to be used as a space for staff to stay! There was a lot of noise from the hallway as late as 11.30pm and starting about 7am so sleep was difficult - lots of banging doors and hoovering and other noises! Understand things need cleaning but being at the end of a hallway we didn’t expect this much noise! There was a lack of light in the room from the ceiling light and window. Room could do with a mirror by the desk to give it a use and also as no plugs are close to the mirror so if you want to do your hair for example, you have to make sure the cord reaches! The bed was broken and almost folded in half and made a lot of noise when you sat on it let alone laid - in hindsight we should’ve asked for a different room but we were only there 2 nights and it was late on night 1 when we realised so didn’t seem worth it - Our own fault really! All in all I would stay here again but would definitely make sure I didn’t get this room again and would ask for a change of room straight away to one that represented what was booked in the images on the website at least!

I was really impressed with this Mercure. The location is super convenient, just a short walk from Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, so getting around the city and to the airport is easy. The breakfast was a standout. It was varied, fresh, and genuinely better than what I usually see at similar level hotels in Germany. It set us up perfectly for the day and felt like excellent value. I would call it surprisingly good for this category. My room was very quiet and relatively comfortable for this level of hotel. I slept well with no street noise and the room was spotless. Note that the mattress was very firm. If you prefer a softer bed, consider asking the staff for a topper or an alternative. Service was friendly and check in was smooth. Overall, this is an easy recommendation if you want a practical and comfortable base with a better than expected breakfast right near the station. I would happily stay again.

Not as scary as how other reviewers have potrayed this place to be. The hotel is quite okay.In terms of cleanliness it wasnt spotless but it wasnt filthy either... Staff were adequately friendly neither rude or eager to please but proffesional.They were pleasant enough to give me a late check out at 1:30pm. Yes there were homeless people even right outside the hotel...But no aggression.I did walk at night a solo black female traveller,I just had to be hyper vigilant. The location is quite okay,1.7km from the shopping district...Allowed me to walk and do my shopping without taking an uber or a train. Walking distance to the river too Overal its an okay place to stay

Amazing central location, very spacious clean rooms. I sincerely want to thank Omer at the front desk for being the kidnest, most amazing, friendly and helpful front desk agent ever. Extremely unsafe location – not suitable for families

Unfortunately, I had a very negative experience when attempting to stay at the Mercure Hotel in Frankfurt. I arrived with my wife and two young daughters (aged 5 and 1), and we were shocked by the condition of the surrounding area. There were numerous individuals in visible drug use and in vulnerable situations right outside the hotel — including four people using drugs directly in front of the hotel’s parking garage, which was closed. We felt genuinely unsafe and decided not to check in for the safety of our family. I contacted the hotel immediately and kindly requested a refund due to the exceptional circumstances. Unfortunately, the hotel responded that, since payment had already been processed, they could not cancel or refund the reservation — even in light of these serious concerns. The hotel mentioned that it cannot control what happens outside the premises, which is understandable to a degree. However, choosing a location is part of the guest experience, and safety should be a basic expectation. The area around the hotel is severely deteriorated and, in my opinion, not suitable for guests — especially families with children. I cannot comment on the hotel’s internal facilities, as we never checked in. But I strongly advise families or safety-conscious travelers to avoid this area of Frankfurt. There are many other hotels in much safer, more welcoming neighborhoods.
