Good but could be so much better

My first time staying at this Ibis hotel in Riyadh and although I have stayed in worse hotels, this one didn't quite make the mark as I had expected. Whilst getting into the hotel was a challenge in itself for my Uber driver, due to roadworks and the road being closed at one end, the main entrance is not welcoming at all. The reception check in was fast, however, carry your own luggage and find your room by yourself seems to be the norm. The rooms are BASIC and I mean BASIC, hardly any wardrobe space, bed was not comfortable at all and the one wooden seat in the room looked like something out of a primary school. The bathroom was tiny, as was the wash hand basin and the decor throughout ancient. Breakfast, lunch, dinner are all served on the 4th floor, this in itself also blended to the ancient look of this hotel. When I arrived for breakfast on my first morning, the selection was ghastly with mini beef burgers, tiny chicken sausages in a revolting sauce and scrambled egg that was tasteless. So, I finished up with two slices of bread with jam as that was the only thing that was edible for me. I then tried the same restaurant for dinner, thinking they must cater for all nationalities, sadly as well as the menu looking like it had been there since the 1970's and the fact that I was the only person in the restaurant - the selection here was also not very appealing so I went for the soup of the day, which admittedly was nice followed by a Margherita Pizza which was also nice. I then skipped breakfast and dinner there for the rest of my stay and on my last night decided to have the soup and pizza again - unfortunately, whilst the soup was just okay, the pizza tasted awful and I left it, paid my bill and went back to my room. 35 minutes later, I was very sick, obviously my thoughts on the pizza being off were correct. So, would I stay at this hotel again? No would be my answer, I am sure there will be many people who will be pleased with the Ibis in Riyadh, unfortunately I am not one of them.

The Ibis Riyadh Olaya street, is one of the best Ibis I’ve done. I can only recommend this hotel for anyone who’s in Riyadh for business. All that is ask from Ibis was there. A special mention to Omar the kitchen Manager as well as the front desk who was really helpful!

Poor Air-conditioning spoil the Sleep

It was a horrible sleep due to poor Air Conditioning, the temperature never came down below 26C during the entire night (I experienced same in Vienna early August too) I wonder is it because they want to save energy cost … anyway I will not be staying in Ibis for some time

BAD EXPERIENCE WITH RECEPTIONIST

Hotel was good Location is little inconvenient as located between many big offices. Parking is limited, but available Breakfast is good Cost ofstay is reasonable Checking in took more than 30 mins and receptionist was not able to use my booking. He cancelled and they came up with a new price, which was higher. Had to wait for long to rectify things and explain him details. Also he could not use partial points and money to settle bill.

After reviewing your comments and your reservations, We found that you made one booking for two rooms on August 26th 8 AM (Riyadh time) and then modified the booking on the same day at 5 PM and somehow the booking was duplicated instead of amended and we ended up having four room reservations. That's why we had to cancel two of them. Also regarding the payment, You were able to do partial payment with points as we can see on our system and room price was exactly the same as you booked it. The manager rakan and staff was super helpful amazing and friendly. The breakfast was good, Rooms was very organized ; comfortable clean . Next time i will comeback again to the same hotel ; i had a wonderful experience
