Pullman Zhangjiajie 5 نجوم

The AC and most of the plugs in our room did not work. Apparently during the winter they only have heat so to have air flow you either have a super steaming hot room, or freezing air from outdoors. The bathtub was dirty and the fridge didn’t work. That aside, the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was nice!

I’ve read many reviews that this is a huge tourist hotel which needs renovations but is conveniently located. I was hesitant in booking but decided to book the club floor for better quality stay. Overall, I think this Pullman hotel meets most of the standards expected. Firstly, I think the staff are the most valuable and contributing factor in giving us a good stay. They are efficient, courteous, smiling, attentive and prompt. They help a lot in resolving or trying to resolve issues that arise in our stay (for instance renovation noise at night, noisy running water from the toilet) and they helped in assisting us in our visits to the national parks and other attractions. There are indeed lots of tourists staying at this hotel (the breakfast crowd can attest to that). Whilst the club is closed for renovations, they have opened their lounge area to club members for the usual happy hours etc except for breakfast where club members have to join the huge crowd (I think the hotel should think of some improvements there). The gym and swimming pool which we did not use look pretty good.

We stayed 3 nights at the Pullman ZhangJiaJie Hotel. It is a very huge hotel with mainly tourists who are visiting the nearby ZhangJieJie National Park. Room was clean and comfortable. Although the restaurant was packed during breakfast, the staff very quickly clear all used cutleries to ensure all guests are able to get a table. Hotel is centrally located and even had a massage shop within the hotel which makes it very convenient for guests who would like to have a massage after a long day out at the national park.

This hotel is old and requires a major renovation. The service and hotel does not meet Pullman standards. There appears to be a lot of tourists from mainland China and they are clearly catering to that clientele. So do not book this hotel if you are looking for Western standards. Also, I booked this hotel to visit the two National parks (which btw were stunning and worth the visit). It turned out to be a 45 minute drive from either park. The parks were super busy and losing that time driving just meant longer lines arriving later at the park. The 45 minute drive back after a long day at the park wasn’t that fun either. There are hotels far closer that would have saved the time and were more centralized to other things like restaurants and shops. Instead of time driving, we could have spent the time enjoying the city. One of the park entrances is literally right in the middle of the main city so I suggest you consider one of those hotels if you want to maximize your time there.

Booked the Pullman expecting actual Pullman luxury and service. Think again..you are in China. Its their version. The hotel looks amazing at reception and then it goes a bit thumbs down thereafter. A little sad and dated. The hotel was extremely busy during August because of the school holidays. Breakfast time was carnage! I asked for an upgrade and was given a room near the street where the show is. For a few hours each evening you hear bellowing sounds on microphones. It's crazy! Avoid this side of hotel if you chose to stay here. A single couse meal for 2 at the hotel restaurant (western) with drinks will cost £57. Quite high for China. The pool is outside. You must wear a swim cap otherwise no entry. It's empty early afternoon while people are out. Location is ideal. Costs 66p via didi to the start gate of the park. Must say the beds were super cosy. Bathroom includes a shower and bath and is very spacious. Mini bar is empty so you can use the fridge. Bottled water supplied everyday.
