Quality mattress, aircon and in a good location

We stayed at the Mercure Padang for two nights, one night before and after our trip to the Mentawai Islands. We stayed in interconnecting rooms and the beds were very comfortable and the aircon temperature was adjustable, worked well and was quiet. The views from the rooms were nice. The hotel is close to the oceanfront where there is a lively atmosphere with food stalls and little fair with rides. We had dinner at the restaurant and the buffet breakfast which was varied and delicious. Would recommend this hotel.

Quiet 146 room hotel one block from the Indian Ocean.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights, arriving at 10PM by taxi(150K Ir) from Padang Airport. A welcoming receptionist copied our passports, processed the payment and presented our key card. We took one of the 2 elevators to the 6th floor. Seaview king #634 was spacious, tiled & clean with a closet, bathroom with tile shower(soaps/shampoo), then a comfortable king across a desk area with hotpot and bottled water. The large TV(ABC Australia, CGTN, Globe Trekker, Love Nature, NHK Japan, 2 Movies, 2 Sports, several local channels and private Netflix), good open wifi/lighting, 2 outlets and quiet central AC. A large very clean window looked over the Indian Ocean to its offshore islets. The lobby’s 6AM breakfast buffet was adequate: juices, fresh fruit, yogurt, kid’s cereals, a good egg station, white/wheat bread/waffles/croissants/desserts with jams, average coffee, tea, chocolate & large Indonesian selections. We did not use the 2 beautiful courtyard pools, spa or gym but did use the ground floor ATM. Hotel’s concierge arranged a car/driver for a city tour and day tour to Ombilin Coal Mining Sawahlunto. Overall, a good choice for a quiet night’s sleep, located 1km N of KFC/MCD and 2KM NW of the new Suzuya Plaza Padang supermarket.
