Went to the club to attend a show in the attached Coliseum Theatre. Excellent venue, plenty of space and some good dining options. We had a wonderful meal at NEW TOWN THAI, excellent food, value and service (after we decided NOT to eat in the Chinese restaurant which forces groups larger than 12 to only order banquet menus, and then charges extra 10% fee for bringing them plenty of business).

Overall, an okay stay but nothing extraordinary. I feel like a few things could have been improved. The reception staff seemed disinterested and unfriendly. Staff seemed more interested in chatting with their colleague than helping guests. I was met with short, unhelpful answers during the booking process. It felt like they just wanted to get rid of me as quickly as possible. This is not the level of service I expect from Accor Hotels or any hotel group. The room itself was spacious but not that clean and a bit outdated. Decorations need improvements. I expected more luxury and modern touches. I think the housekeeping team needs more attention to detail. Location was great, though, close to the shops & restaurants, but I was hoping for more from the amenities. Would only recommend for a short stay! It left a bad first impression on what could have been a good first stay at Novotel West HQ.

To start with the positives.... our room was clean and spacious, staff were friendly and check-in / check out process was quick and easy. Location was perfect as we were booked to see a show that evening at the Sydney Coliseum Theatre, which was only a few minutes walk away, undercover. Plenty of free parking also available. However, the room could be improved tenfold with just a few simple inclusions. For example, our room had a balcony, but no furniture. There was only one chair located near the desk so nothing really to take out to the balcony to sit on when there is a double occupancy. There was a couch which I think may have been a sofa bed but this was not very comfortable sitting on. Given the size of the room, a small dining table and two chairs could have easily fitted in to provide comfortable seating for having a drink and nibbles, playing a game of cards, or a room service meal. Would have been happy to have this instead of the sofa. The bathroom amenities were very good, but only enough for one person, ie.1 toothbrush etc yet the room was for double occupancy....surely there should have been 2 of these? Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and would be happy to book again for a one night stand if seeing a show at the Coliseum.

We visited the Novotel Restaurant and ordered a chicken dish, but we were disappointed to find that the chicken portion was only the size of two nuggets. This felt ridiculous and certainly not worth our hard-earned money. I believe the menu should include the weight in grams for each meal; currently, only the beef dish has this information, which is unfair to those who cannot eat beef. Additionally, we were only offered a 25% discount with our Accor membership instead of the expected 50%. Overall, I feel that the Accor membership is not worth it.

One of the better hotels we have stayed in! The rooms were a really generous size. We have stayed in a lot of hotels and generally book rooms with 2 queen/double beds, and you don’t get a lot of room to move around normally. These rooms were quite big and so much nicer to be in. The hallways were really spacious with cute little lounge areas near the lifts while you are waiting for the rest of your group. There was absolutely no noise from other rooms or outside, we honestly didn’t hear a thing. Given we were there for 2 nights for a sporting competition not far away, the fact we all had decent sleeps was really important. The beds were really comfortable, and the bathrooms were quite big. We also got a couple of bottles of complimentary water and soft drink and they replenished it the next morning. We had 2 rooms next to each other so we called and asked for the interconnecting door to be unlocked and it was done within 10 minutes. The club is right next door so easy to access food options. Parking – there is not a huge amount of undercover parking for the hotel but there is plenty of outside spaces or the undercover parking at the club, although I am not sure if you have to pay for that – surprisingly the hotel parking did not cost extra. We definitely would stay here again and cannot fault the accommodation or service, it was fantastic.
