Let down by cleanliness but cheap

You have the option to take the airport bus and walk 10 minutes with your luggage or take the airport express and taxi it to the hotel. I suggest the latter. The hotel is not really near the underground (MTR) or strictly walking distance to site seeing places. If you do not have restricted walking or disabled, it will take you 7 minutes to walk to the Sheung Wan MTR. This is the suggested MTR to go to as the SAI YING PUN is not 7 minutes as you will have to walk underground for another 5 minutes. Outside is a TRAM line which is 3 minutes walk and can take you to the central district. There are plenty of buses outside but not everyone is comfortable with this. Hong Kong does have the best and efficient transport system. Back to the hotel. The hotel is situated upstairs on the 5th floor. The customer service was good and the customer service person provided a room, although I was an hour early. Entering the room, this room is spacious compared to their European hotels. The TV is old but flat screen. There is a kettle with complimentary bottled water each day, coffee, and tea. The shower or toilet room is ok and not small. The shower water is powerful and the air conditioning and heating system is fine. Here comes the problem and irritating part of this hotel. The individual who tidies the hotel room when you leave each morning clearly wanted to just get off work. What really irritated me was that although I had the sign on the door not to disturb. The individual had the audacity to phone my room from next door whilst tidying up to ask if I needed room service. My other problem with the hotel room was that if was not clearly cleaned from dust. Under the bed you could see dust trails and I would like to say out of all hotels, it was triggering my chest each day. This is disappointing. What does this hotel have? It has a bar and restaurant. Downstairs a famous coffee shop. Surrounding the hotel within walking distance are supermarkets, newsagents, pharmacies and the famous street - seafood and herbs. Overall, the main thing that really let down this hotel was the hotel cleanliness.

Locating in the heart of Sheung Wan, we are indeed 8 minutes away from Sheung Wan or Sai Ying Pun MTR stations. If you come from Sheung Wan MTR station (Exit B) next time, turn right out of the exit and keep walking along Connaught Road Central until the junction of Des Voeux Road West, and then you will find our colorful building sits just two blocks away to your left. As you mention there are multiple trams and bus stops opposite to the hotel with ease of access to get around Hong Kong Island and beyond, however our location may not be suitable for all our guests’ needs and we offer our apology. Regarding the cleanliness and the housekeeper, I have informed the Housekeeping team about the situation that you encountered. If you could kindly contact us directly via H7606-RE10@accor.com with the further details of your stay I will attend to the matter personally. Our Housekeeping Manager does ongoing checks and inspections of the rooms to ensure our cleanliness standards, however I am sorry if you were let down on this occasion. Spent a week here. I paid for the harbour view room which was nice. Room is a decent size, quiet and clean, and consistent with a 3.5* property. Check in is under-staffed and slow. Location is not ideal - halfway between Sheung Wan and Sai Ying Pun MTR. The tram though is right outside. My issue was that I needed to extend for two days and went to Reception to arrange. The staff member could not find my booking, in spite of the fact that I had booked on the Accor website and had already been there a week (he admitted their system was not great). I was clearly in the too hard basket and he asked me to call back that evening. I did that and was told they couldn't help me and I needed to go back to Reception, but not to go at that time as there was a large queue. So I ended up booking somewhere else which turned out to be cheaper and nicer. Pity I had to move hotels though. After I made some review comments prompted by the hotel, the Duty Manager called and apologised. It was too late by then.

First & foremost is the great staff at this hotel. Anson is amazing and she is very in tune with your needs and preferences. She always greets me when she sees me, which displays her great level of service. She's incredibly helpful. Tony does the night shift- what a great guy. Service with a smile. Thanks also to Amy with whom I also dealt with. Great service. The hotel is situated in a very convenient area of the city. Close to transport, shops and restaurants. I got a corner room and love love love it! Nice and bright and provides an enhanced view of the city. The window sills provide good shelving to store small items. The housekeeping staff is friendly and accommodating! Rooms are basic, clean, and refreshing. Thanks to the hospitable team at Ibis Hong Kong Central & Sheung Wan. I had a great stay and look forward to my next stay.
