The staff at the Mercure was fabulous. We were treated to two nights with our relatives when visiting them in Australia. Overall things appeared in good order;the pool, spa, sauna room, recreation are (one of our favorites), library, grounds and rooms. As with any large complex little things needed attention but really did not impact our stay. Rooms were clean and bedding, towels, water pressure etc were good. There were plenty of parking spaces, convention rooms and conference centers to accommodate any type of wedding or business meetings.

Began with door not opening. Twice we had to go back to get another key and still would not open. Bathroom smelt of sewerage which made our room smell lovely. NOT! From behind the toilet floor was constantly leaking. Never got wiped, great cleaning. Dead bug in the shower that never got cleaned the 3 nights we stayed. Floor in the bathroom was not clean. The Fridge!!!! Not only not clean but smelt of rotten garbage. All our food and drinks that was in the fridge we had to throw out from the stench from the fridge. Buffet breakfast $35. Hashbrowm dry and cold, baked beans brownish colour so did not touch it, fruit did not look fresh at all. Cereal either corn flakes or muslie. WOW! Not much choice for what you pay. Mind you breakfast opens at 7am and we arrived 7.15am. Surely the food could have been warm and food could looked more fresh. You wonder if management ever comes and check. Or is there management at all. We are shocked that Mercure Hotel can have such a filthy hotel

This hotel has a 4 and a half star rating so we were expecting a clean, comfortable hotel with good facilities. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The rooms were run down and in need of maintenance e.g. holes in insect screens. They were also disgustingly dirty. Only the center of the room was vacuumed. There was lots of dirt and dust on the shelves and bathroom accessories (see photos). Not only that, there were lots of live and dead insects (especially woodlice) all around the edge of the room (see photos). It was obvious that they had been there for a long time. I spoke to the receptionist twice and she promised that the room would be cleaned correctly but nothing happened. My family member was in another room and they had exactly the same situation with dead insects. On a positive note, the bed was very comfortable.

Mercure Hunter Valley was the ideal spot for our short wine country escape, a perfect location with top wineries within an easy drive and the stunning Hunter Valley Gardens an easy ten minutes walk away. The spacious rooms were clean and comfortable and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a delicious dinner at Elements... the on-site restaurant and the buffet breakfast offered plenty of choice. Highly recommended for a relaxing stay with easy access to the best the Hunter Valley has to offer.

First problem was understaffed and we waited so long in the restaurant to be given menus , then another long wait for our orders to be taken . One overwhelmed lady was trying to do it all . Our wine arrived after we finished our meal so we sent it back Secondly after we got home I realised my husband had left 2 brand new business shirts in the closet of our room so I calked the hotel where a girl On reception said she would check and call back . I waited 2 days without any response and rang again . Once again a girl said she would check and call back It took 4 phone calls to be told that there was nothing reported by housekeeping which I find very suspicious. Seems honesty in the staff employees is questionable because they would have been obviously good quality new shirts and not thrown out . Someone has taken them . The attitude of reception staff was lacklustre . Will not stay in a Mecure again
