This was our first time here and it was perfectly fine, clean, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was good with everything you could want. This hotel does not warrant the bad reviews at all. My only minor negatives were the bathroom door didn't fully close, there weren't enough towel rails and the hairdryer was rubbish.

Room needed freshing up, mini fridge didn’t work, big crack in bathroom ceiling, mould in shower, loads of red marks in roll top bath, toilet was hard to flush, coy get to sleep Saturday night as hotel held at 50th birthday party below our room, only thing what was good about the hotel was it’s breakfast

Hotel staff very friendly especially the restaurant staff, lobby, bar and restaurant areas very nice and clean. A shame that the same couldn't be said regarding the stairwell and room. We had privilege room 265 which was dusty had mould around the shower area. Aircon was useless and noisy and the soundproofing left a lot to be desired as you could her everyone who came up and down the hallway. Hotel in general looks like it needs a refurbishment! Also there was no robes or slippers which should have been in a Privilege room, this hotel is not four star standard.

It’s a standard overpriced, low quality hotel. If there had been an AirBnB available, I would have used one. However I left it until the last minute so this hotel was my punishment. A reminder… book your stay well in advance.

Good value. Rooms clean spacious and quiet. Shower pressure not good. Helpful friendly staff. Only quibble is the receptionist advised to use overnight parking option rather than “visitor” when we only wanted the space for less than an hour to pack after checking out. Subsequently we appear to have been charged £15! I will take this up directly when we next visit in 4 days time.

I booked here as I am a Silver member and it was listed as All Safe. I arrived about 90 mins before check in time. Normally as a Silver member Accor hotels can usually give you a room. The receptionist was not at all interested in even trying to look helpful. When I did check in, I realised I had been given the smallest room on the floor. But then I also had issues with the room safe. It was locked when I got there so had to have the same receptionist come up to unlock it. The cover over the manual key access to the safe was also missing. The kettle leaked over some papers I had left on the desk, the bathroom had a black smudge in the shower, the toilet seat was old and had a large area that was discoloured, I've stayed in Accor hotels around the world and never seen a room like this. Phones have been removed from the rooms due to Covid, so to get any assistance, you need to contact them via WhatsApp. I did this once and waited for over 90 mins for a response, and that was only after I kept contacting them. COVID Safe - this hotel is not. There are signs saying masks are mandatory in public areas. At most, 10% of people wore masks. This I believe is down to none of the staff wearing masks and the guests following their lead. The receptionist who came up in the lift with me to unlock the safe did have a mask around her chin. The head breakfast waiter was constantly coughing into his arm sleeve while I was having breakfast the next day (no mask). At breakfast there was no social distancing and no one wore masks. As I was checking out, the fire services arrived and asked to speak to the manager about serious concerns they had from a recent inspection. Whoever gave this hotel an All Safe rating needs to review this. The one positive was that the pizza in the restaurant was very good.

The rooms need updating!

The hotel carpet was so dirty and the disabled room was not up to standards compared to other Novotel hotel I have stayed in the past this was because the bathroom sink basin was so small you could barely wash your face without getting wet also the shower cubicle was so small that a wheelchair could not get inn. The beds in the disabled room was so high that a wheelchair user like me struggle to move my self in to bed independently it was like climbing a mountain to get in to bed! The hotel carpet was so dirty and the disabled room was not up to Standards!

Aside from the excellent location, we had to wait for everything from check in to check out and a crummy breakfast that we didnt even bother with on the second day. The room wasnt made up and there was no phone to call reception to notify them. A maid promised she would do it and that didnt happen. Overall very poor experience...

Receptionist tried to get me to agree to more than we had on booking email. Car parking extortionate. No air con in room and no opening windows. Toilet smelt damp and unclean. Breakfast items kept running out and insufficient staff considering number of customers booked in for breakfast. Evening bar staff pleasant and helpful. Location is good.

I wish to express my concern in respect to our experience when taking a one night stay at the Holland House Bristol. Wanting to make the best of our time we arrived early knowing the room would not be available but being able to leave our luggage. The lady receptionist Carol who during our previous stays been very helpful placed our luggage in the store room. After pleasant sight seeing around Bristol we returned to the hotel expecting to complete our booking in procedure and having a restful evening. This is when we realised something was wrong. We were not able to book in as there was a queue of several other couples attempting to book in. There was no doubt problems in respect to the booking procedure as the people were showing very aggressive attitude towards Carol. Who was alone on the reception desk. She remained professional and calm attempting to pacify the persons and keep them updated. No doubt the booking system had failed and the longer it continued the more disgruntled the people were getting. After over two hours I believe the reception manager arrived and at last Carol was not on her own. There was a complete failing at this time within the hotel for the allocation of rooms and without support Carol who was battling against all odds in an attempt to locate guests their rooms. I can understand the frustration of the guests as I was one. But I must say that the lady remained calm and professional in her approach and is a credit to the hotel and a gem that need to be acknowledge for her dedication .

We stayed on a Saturday night and the hotel was full of hen and stag parties so was noisy. Our room was fine and beds were comfy but was expensive for what it was. The shower was tepid and low pressure. The TV cut out a few times and came back on again randomly. The hotel is a little tired and rundown, especially from the exterior. There are tatty carpets in the corridors and on the stairs and tatty paintwork.

The air conditioning in the rooms doesn't work and the windows in rooms cannot be opened. This made my stays here an uncomfortable night's sleep in the middle of summer. I previously stayed at this hotel a month earlier and assumed (after discussion with the front desk) that the air conditioning unit in my room was itself at fault. The second time we stayed, we understood that this wasn't the case as I spoke to other guest who also had no air conditioning. The staff on hand who provide the service are not at fault - when I flagged this to the desk manager, they did everything to try and increase the comfort of the stay including issuing us with plug in fans. This however did little to help when there is no air flow into the room as the windows cannot be opened. It would have been valuable to know this information at the time of booking as the rooms were advertised as having air conditioning. I have stayed with the Accor group quite a bit for business and pleasure and am usually very satisfied with the hotels and service, unfortunately that was not the case this time. A further thing to note is that the phones have been removed from rooms as part of Covid measures. Although this makes very little sense in preventing the spread of the virus, this does create difficulty communicating with the front desk. The alternative provided is a number to communicate with over Whatsapp, which did not work on the night of our stay. The hotel is fairly large and it can take a while to get back down to the lobby which might be worth noting for guests with mobility issues.

When we let the bath out stuff come up the drain out the floor and wasn’t sorted untill we checked out, we had a complimentary meal on one night and they they tried to charge us when we checked out. The mini “fridge” made our milk go off and our drinks go warm as it wasn’t cold at all

Great Central location with parking.... Good size family room.... extremely professional and helpful staff... restaurant menu was great including for vegetarians. You can walk into town and your otherwise right next to some great pubs with one on guinea Street the other next door

overall happy. the swimming pool was closed for refurbisment without notice to the guests so I can't comment on the spa and pool facilities. Nice and clean on arrival and It may have been in the small print but there was no cleaning or new towels provided in the three days we we're at the hotel.

I’ve been staying here on and off for the last 15 years for both business and pleasure. Anytime I’m in the Bristol area this is definitely my first choice. Nice spacious rooms, some with lovely views, friendly staff, very nice breakfast. Also really close to harbourside with the bars and eateries.

I stayed one night when travelling back from holiday. The hotel was nice and clean and staff were very friendly and professional. It is in a very good central location and appeared to originally be an office block in its former life. I managed to get an upgrade but could not tell the difference from the room I originally booked. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Overnight car parking was £15 which I thought was excessive but perhaps typical for central Bristol.

The hotel is an excellent location, close enough to walk to the harbourside and Cabot circus but far enough away to not suffer from noise. There was plenty of parking available as well. Slightly disappointed to learn the swimming pool was shut when we checked in as it was not mentioned at all on the app whilst booking. I understand why but it would of been nice to know. As this was our first trip this year due to vovid, I upgraded to a privilege room. Unfortunately we found the bathroom door extremely hard to open and close, a leaking shower cubicle, the flush was difficult to operate and the towel rail was broken. Due to a reduction in cleaning the tea / coffee facilities were not replenished and neither was the mini fridge so we had to buy ecmxtra stuff ourselves. Not a great hardship but when I paid over £50 extra for the upgrade it certainly wasn't worth it this time.

My and my wife stayed at this hotel for three nights, we found the hotel was kept to a good clean standard, All the staff we met we’re very polite and helpful, we were lucky enough to have one of the junior suite which was very spacious and comfortable, the breakfast was very good and so was the evening meals we had, the only downside was the choice of drinks at the bar they were out of a lot of the beers and not much left to choose them but I was told there were waiting on a delivery, I would definitely use this hotel again when we visit Bristol next time.

My girlfriend and I booked this as a delayed getaway, having booked earlier in the year. This was cancelled and a full refund was given, so this was no problem. The hotel staff were excellent and helpful, but the experience overall wasn’t quite to the same standard. Having paid to upgrade the room, our first room was 5m or so away from the lobby, down 6 stairs or so. As a result, the noise from the bar combined with screaming children kept us awake til almost midnight. I can appreciate that the lobby will be noisy but it seemed quite ridiculous to be kept up by that amount of noise at that time, especially given that there were still many coronavirus-related restrictions. In addition to this, the fridge also was broken. We were moved to a room on the floor above by a lovely member of staff behind the desk who was very understanding. The fridge worked in this room luckily but the room itself was freezing for much of the evening. It’s unfortunate that the AC wasn’t connected to the heating due to it being summer, which is understandable, but on colder days in the summer it would be nice to be able to use the heating too.
