The rooms are nicely furnished, a good size and always clean. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of choice for breakfast. The staff are always kind and friendly and help out with any queries.

This hotel is in a great location. Only a 5 minute walk leads you to the river which is lined with loads of restaurants and bars. The room itself was lovely and stylish - although the walls do need a refresh as there were a few marks in places. Unfortunately we were in a room right next to a generator which made a bit of noise during the night. I expect as we booked last minute that's why we were placed in that room which is understandable, however luckily we did still manage to sleep quite well in the very comfortable bed. Each member of staff we dealt with were very helpful, professional and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

Good service as always. Been staying here for the past couple of months. Have been upgraded on occasions as well, which has been nice. Will be soon a gold member so will be expecting regular upgrades which will be reported on.

Whilst I totally understand the challenges in the current climate, I feel customers should have been made aware of of amendments to specific services prior to booking so they can make an informed decision as to whether to book. -The take away breakfast was not highlighted until check in and certainly not worth the money. I would have booked room only and made alternative arrangements -hiding the bar opening hours (5pm -9pm)in a QR code not available until you’re in your room wasn’t helpful. Even then, in amongst all the other information, I didn’t notice the closing time. It also didn’t state that there was a very reduced range of beverages. We had arranged to meet family at 8pm in the bar, this was the actual reason for our visit. Again we would have made alternative arrangements had we known. - bar staff not highlighting that the bar was closing at all. We went to order a round of drinks to be informed that the bar was closed. Not in the least customer friendly. In all we were made to feel like an inconvenience. This could have been avoided if the website had stated that there was no reception/lounge seating areas, takeaway pre packed breakfast only and very limited bar service. None of these are deal breakers but allow customers to plan their stay accordingly.

excellent location reasonably priced car park next to hotel run by hotel payable staff very friendly, professional and welcoming. rooms decore was good as expected. i will definetly consider this hotel again next time i stay in bristol. location is excellent for shopping, night life, access from public transport.

We booked a disabled double room and got a twin. The room was very dark with bulbs missing in 5 of the lights and two not working. This was not good for someone with disabilities. The bathroom was freezing cold and the disabled toilet seat was loose. It also needs to be more clear that there is a charge for parking. I have stayed in Accor hotels all over Europe and this was by far the worst

Our stay was to celebrate my wife’s 40th birthday, as we stayed one of your hotels around my birthday & were treated to a room upgrade & even a little cake. Sadly, no such treatment for my wife, our room was ok but after having a shower we could not find a hairdryer in the room, I asked at reception & they said they would bring one up. We waited to 20 minutes, but one did not arrive, so I headed down to reception, on my way I met a very helpful maid that gave me a hairdryer from a room nearby. When we returned to our room from a night out & put our daughter to bed in the pull-out sofa, we found that the bed was so uncomfortable that it was unusable. As it was late, we asked reception for a second duvet to sleep on. This is not what we expected with a family room. Also, the main bed was very uncomfortable.

I am sorry to read of your experience and that you felt we did not provide, unfortunately it is not always possible to upgrade all of our guests and we do indeed offer many possible upgrades for all of guests should they wish to add these to their bookings. I am sorry the hairdryer was not in your room, perhaps it was missed in one of the draws, I will certainly be discussing with our team the delivery of our promises. I am sorry that the beds are uncomfortable, we offer a wide variety of mattress toppers that should further enhance our offer should you require a softer experience.

Check-in was smooth but adding an extra night was not straightforward. The first room was compact - so much so that you could not open one of the two cupboards as the bed was in the way. The electronic door key failed three times. After bringing all this to the attention of Reception we were moved (free upgrade) to a bigger room. That was kind. The bed was not quite as new as in the first room but very wide. Sleeping was easier in the second room as the first was above a perpetually spinning bank of air conditioning fans. Cleanliness in the communal areas was excellent. The bath however could have been cleaned more vigorously for comfort. Shower provision was good. Breakfast (buffet style) was excellent for quantity and choice. Only the scrambled eggs were past their best when we went down - in the serving tray too long, we felt. The location right in the heart of the city is excellent. Parking is straightforward and felt secure. The value of the first night was excellent. Night 2 was significantly dearer.

Good centrally placed hotel with car parking and plenty of places to eat within walking distance. Room was upgraded, a nice touch. Bathroom recently refurbed to a good standard. The only negative point was the room heating was not working during the evening (when its needed) but seemed to be working next morning? In addition, the heating/aircon fan was noisy which meant it could not be used during the night anyway.

Not as Described and Very Disappointing

Where do I begin? The Hotel was booked for a short break which included use of the swimming pool and fitness facility. On arrival I discovered these were unavailable – and had been shut down some two months previously, with no forecast date for resuming. Goods not as advertised (and priced) The Room (number 240) was “Bijou” (small) the outlook was onto a red brick wall some 3-4 m away. The light in the rooms was dull and there was insufficient light to facilitate reading. The air conditioning was inadequate to give reasonable comfort (20 degC). This was in spite of the thermostat being turned up to 26 degC. Breakfast The traditional British Breakfast “Full Fry” is know throughout Europe. Best taken before a Lazy Sunday. . . . .not on this occasion. There was no bacon or sausages. To run out like this is unacceptable. The staff said their supplier let them down – Accord Management should understand basic logistics of Reserve Stock and Emergency Stock. (an emergency order could have been delivered by a local retailer). What a let down, what a disappointment. Had I known the full breakfast was not available – I would not have booked and paid for it (for two people). Housekeeping : Even in budget hotels, I have not seen so much detritus in hotel corridors. Laundry baskets, service trolleys, litter on the floor, vacuum cleaners etc. I understand the hotel was full due to a rugby tour. Obviously management failed to ensure there was sufficient staff for the housekeeping task to be completed in the usual discreet manner. Poor staff too. The fat that our room was not tidied (other than simple towel change) is a minor irritation. I guess the staff member started the room but was called away and forgot to complete the room housekeeping. Marketing: The marketing for this hotel shows four stars, fitness gym, pool – these were misrepresented on the advertising (should have been removed in November last year) and the non availability of the full English breakfast should have resulted in some compensation and not a mere apology. Accord give this hotel four stars – they did not earn them on this occasion We will not be going back to this hotel (in case you haven't guessed!)

For such a large hotel and with many rooms occupied I was impressed at how peaceful it was. The food was well presented and cooked well, service was friendly and on point. I would definitely be pleased to stay here again

I have stayed at this hotel many times and have seen a decline in its service and food (breakfast). I stay there partly for its location and parking plus the leisure facilities. The latter were not in use but nobody thought to advise me. The room was noisy with the air conditioning and suffered from noises from the sewage waste system. My reception was poor and sadly not up to what usually happens

This was my third stay this year at the Mercure Grand in broad street, living in Palma de Mallorca and visiting friends in around Bristol, I find the location excellent, being in the heart of Bristol for shopping malls and pedestrian only shopping areas . On arrival I was treated by a friendly courteous receptionist, and as I wanted a fridge in my room, and probably being an Accor live limitless club member just upgraded to silver status recently, I was upgraded to a premium room with various advantages including a fridge. I’ve found having been an Accor loyalty club member for several years now , which builds up points every time I stay at an Accor or Mercure Hotels, allows me to burn my points periodically to substantially reduce my hotel bill. Can’t praise and recommend high enough this awards points system offered by Accor Hotel group. Great hotel with plenty of old world charm , can’t fault the service throughout my stay, breakfast on offer was varied with all types of breakfast food , hot or cold , overall very good standard. I stay at this hotel on average 3 to 4 times a year when I come over to visit friends in Bristol which includes shopping in the city center, I never grow tired of staying in this hotel, I always look forward each visit to stay at the Mercure Grand Hotel in Bristol throughout the year

we are small but thought that the compact room was really only for one.It required contortions to open the cupboard and get to the safe.Good design though.We heard no noise from the functions we were warned about.excellent service

We were planning our first family getaway with our 4months old baby and decided to go ti Mercure Grand Hotel in Bristol. We can absolutely say that we have made the right decision! A superb Hotel with a strategic position so close to the City Centre. The room are spacious and comfortable, we were also provided with a travel cot for our baby which was lovely. The staff at reception and bar were really professional and made us feel welcome. The only down point was that we couldn’t get to use the leisure centre as they were closed .. but other than that everything was just spot on! What else to say...we will definitely be back! Highly recommend !

Staff were decent. My room was a bit ropey: wallpaper hanging from the ceiling in the bathroom and air conditioning didn’t work. Explained this to the staff in check out and nothing offered in return. My friend had to change rooms on three occasions whilst we were there (one night) due to various issues. Not awesome.

Well located. Clean sheets. A bit of confusion at check-in. Room not ready despite text message confirming it was. Receptionist kindly comped the following morning's breakfast. More attention could be paid to the cleanliness of the towels and cutlery in room.

Booked 3 nights £450 incl breakfast & parking - Hotel room had noisy air conditioning, bathroom cold, bath towels small - one day room not made up had to go & ask for milk & towels Breakfast poor quality - English breakfast : fried eggs congealed over cooked / bacon was a dish contains a mass of squashed rashers hard to serve out / baked beans usually not been replenished What was left we’re just warm - It would seem that everything in this hotel was meant to be cost saving to the extreme - Staff were ok & the only good thing was the Hotels location Certainly would not visit this hotel again

Stay here often, very pleased with the hotel in general. Rooms always good and clean. Breakfast is good with many options. As non-smokers we dislike the fact that smokers congregate around the front doors, which are always opening, and allow ingress of smoke. This can be detected on the landing of the 1st floor. An easy remedy could, we think be effected. The staff are always courteous and helpful and the general ambience around the hotel is good. Sleep quality was slightly marred by the proximity of a hen weekend which did not differentiate between night and day! The bed etc was excellent.

Arrived on Sunday, easy to locate and find the hotel. Reception polite on arrival and given an option to drop bags off before check-in. Room double bed quite compact and space is limited. Found rotten or loose carpet near the bathroom and small hallway. Missing light bulb near bedside. Food is quite standard but price for burger is expensive than average pub.
