Relaxing Spa Break at Mercure Norton Grange Hotel, Rochdale

I recently spent a wonderful spa break at the Mercure Norton Grange Hotel in Rochdale with my sister to celebrate my birthday weekend. We opted for the one-night dinner, bed, and breakfast package and stayed on the 15th of September, 2024. From start to finish, our experience was exceptional. We arrived around 2 pm and were checked into a spacious, clean, and beautifully appointed room, complete with a comfortable double bed, complimentary snacks, and toiletries. The robes and slippers provided were a lovely touch, making us feel instantly pampered. If you require a different size of robe, the spa staff are happy to accommodate, though you’ll need to leave something like your house or car keys as a deposit. After settling in, we changed into our swimwear, robes, and slippers and made our way to the spa centre. The waiting area was inviting, with a café offering free water and other treats. The calming décor immediately set the tone for relaxation. We both booked a 25-minute back and shoulder massage. Tammy, the therapist who did my massage, was fantastic! The atmosphere in the massage room was soothing, with soft music playing in the background and a refreshing sort of minty essence oil that Tammy released, setting a relaxing mood. She expertly worked through the tension in my back, and the experience was so good that I nearly fell asleep. Post-massage, we spent time at the pool. I enjoyed reading by the poolside, followed by a swim, and we made good use of the hot tub. The hot tub is perfectly situated to overlook the outside, and as it was raining, the contrast between the warmth of the water and the cool rain outside made it a truly serene experience. The spa also has a steam room, sauna, and other facilities that, fortunately, were not too crowded during our visit. Later, we got ready for our three-course dinner, which was included in the package and a fantastic deal! Drinks were not included, but they were extremely affordable. For our meal, we had Cajun wings as starters, followed by a pizza and Cajun chicken burger for mains, and finished with a delicious tiramisu and cheesecake for dessert. The food exceeded our expectations in terms of flavor and quality, especially for a hotel restaurant. The dining area was spotless, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. One minor drawback was that our room was located directly in front one of the lifts, which could be a bit noisy, especially for light sleepers. However, after the indulgence of the spa and a comfortable night’s sleep in the high-quality bed, we barely noticed the noise and slept soundly. The following morning, we headed down for breakfast, which was a standard continental buffet. There was a great variety of options, from fresh juices and coffee to baked goods and bread, all of which were fresh and delicious. We certainly enjoyed the meal! Before checking out, we revisited the pool and hot tub to squeeze in a bit more relaxation. The checkout process was quick and easy; you just drop off your key. Overall, our stay at the Mercure Norton Grange Hotel was incredibly relaxing, with clean and well-maintained facilities and exceptionally friendly staff. For anyone looking for a quick, comforting, and rejuvenating getaway, I highly recommend this place!

Bathroom was a big letdown

Stayed here for one night whilst visiting family and the grounds are lovely, but the room didn’t feel like a 4 star hotel and I was very disappointed in the state of the bathroom. The shower head was corroded and black and I had to complain to front desk, as I definitely wasn’t going to shower my one year old with it. They said they were fully booked so couldn’t change my room. As an alternative, I suggested that they change the shower head and the staff member said they would speak with the general manager. She came back and said he agreed to change the shower head and they did so relatively quickly. I also mentioned that I thought the sink may have been leaking. The manager checked it and said he didn’t think so, perhaps the water was from cleaning, but he put a towel behind it just incase. In all honesty, that’s the type of resolution I expect from maybe a 3 star hotel. I would say this initial experience dampened my stay. I was worried about what else might not have been cleaned.

Das Hotel ist kein 08/15 Kettenhotel. Historisches Gebäude mit Flair. Es liegt "etwas" außerhalb, daher benötigt man ein Auto, wenn man nicht im Hotel essen möchte. Essen hervorragend und zu empfehlen. Gym sehr gut ausgestattet. Immer gerne wieder

Típico hotel inglés con moqueta por todos los lados, habitación sin aire acondicionado. Para ser un Mercure necesita una pequeña reforma. Habitación normal. Desayuno bueno. Personal simpático y atento. Tienen spa y piscina cubierta. Bonita localización pero en medio de la nada, cerca de polígono industrial, bus 17 y estación de Castleton relativamente cerca. Para estándar español es un 3 estrellas.

Las habitaciones un poco standard, nada que resalte. El personal amable y respetuoso. El hotel esta algo alejado del centro de la ciudad, pero esta bien para relajarse un poco en un entorno bastante tranquilo.
